Guru Nanak Dev Ji Sakhi #89

Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji traveled from Bheem…

Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji traveled from Bheem Udyar to a place called Lakhpat Nagar. This location is situated near the Arabian Sea in the Gulf of Kutch. As a result, for six (6) months, the salty seawater spreads over the land, while for the other six (6) months, the land dries up and appears barren. In some areas, the land remains marshy. Due to these conditions, the population there is very low, but because of trade through the sea, movement of people continues.

Upon Guru Ji’s arrival, the people presented their difficulties before him, stating that their homes often suffered significant damage due to sea storms. They constantly lived in fear, making progress in this area seem impossible.

Guru Ji advised them to select a safe location, establish a new settlement there, and permanently reside in it. He suggested that they all collectively pray to the Lord before laying the foundation of the new town. Guru Ji emphasized that the first structure in this town should be a dharamshala (spiritual lodge), where food arrangements could be made for visiting travelers. In this way, they would receive divine blessings and embark on the path of progress.

Following Guru Ji’s guidance, the local people began their efforts, which eventually led to the establishment of the new town of Lakhpat, fulfilling the dreams of its inhabitants.
