Guru Nanak Dev Ji Sakhi #78

Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, after seeking…

Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, after seeking permission from his family and his father-in-law, Moolchand Ji, left from the village of Pakho Ke Ranghve at the end of the year 1509 for his journey to South India and other countries. He traveled to Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and other places. From there, he reached near a town in Punjab called Dipalpur, passing through Lahore.

At one place, Guru Ji saw a large crowd gathered. Upon inquiring, he learned that a faqir named Shah Suhagin was well known there.

This faqir claimed that on the night of the full moon, Allah Himself would come to meet him. So, he would prepare a beautifully decorated bed, wear a burqa, lock himself in a room, and instruct his followers not to enter, as his divine husband, Allah, was coming to meet him. Therefore, no one should disturb their union. The next morning, he would emerge before the people and declare that Allah had visited him at night, hence he was Allah’s Suhagin (spouse).

When Guru Ji heard this story, he said that all of it was mere deception. He explained that Allah is not a being with a physical body but a divine light, a supreme power that can only be experienced. He is present throughout the universe, and there is no place where He does not exist. The concept of meeting Him like a married couple was completely false.

Hearing this, some curious young men decided to test the faqir’s claim. They forcefully broke open the door of the room where Shah Suhagin had spread the rumor of meeting Allah.

When the door opened, people caught Shah Suhagin red-handed in immoral activities. However, Guru Ji intervened and saved the fraudulent faqir from being beaten by the enraged crowd.

After this incident, the entire town began condemning Shah Suhagin. His deception was exposed, and his source of income was completely destroyed.
