Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, passing through…
Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, passing through Sirsa, Sunam, and Sangrur, reached Sultanpur to visit his sister, Nanaki Ji. At that time, sister Nanaki was sitting, lost in sweet memories of her brother, talking to herself, wondering when her dear brother would return. She longed for his sight. As she began preparing bread, one after another, they started puffing up. At that moment, a thought arose in her mind: "If only my brother would come, I would serve him hot, fresh bread as before."
Just then, her maid, Tulsa, came running and said, "Bibi Ji, your dear brother Nanak Ji has arrived!"
Nanaki Ji replied, "Are you joking with me?" Meanwhile, Guru Nanak Ji arrived at the door, chanting "Sat Kartar, Sat Kartar."
Nanaki Ji rushed to welcome Guru Nanak Dev Ji and brought him inside with great honor. Tulsa set up a cot, and Bhai Mardana, along with Guru Nanak, sat on it. At that time, Guru Nanak’s elder son, Sri Chand Ji, who lived with his aunt, arrived home. He was now about sixteen years old. Sister Nanaki Ji introduced him, saying, "Son, this is your father, Nanak Dev Ji, my younger brother."
Hearing this, Sri Chand Ji immediately bowed and touched his father's feet.
Guru Nanak embraced him and kissed his forehead. Thus, after nearly twelve years, the father and son reunited. Seeing this, Nanaki Ji remarked, "Sri Chand has completely inherited your habits. Like you, he prefers the company of saints and ascetics and shows no interest in household affairs. I have never imposed my wishes on him."
Shortly after, Bhai Jairam Ji returned home from work. Upon meeting Nanak Ji, he was overwhelmed with joy.
The news of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's return spread throughout the city. Before long, Nawab Daulat Khan himself came to meet Guru Nanak and bowed to touch his feet, but Guru Nanak honored him with great respect. The Nawab expressed his regret, saying, "I am saddened that I did not recognize your greatness earlier," and pleaded to become his disciple.
Guru Nanak accepted his request, initiated him as a disciple, and blessed him with the gift of Naam (divine remembrance). Many friends and devotees came to meet Guru Nanak and told him that they had continued the spiritual gatherings at the Dharamshala he had established.
They requested him to grace the place with his presence. Thus, after nearly twelve years, Guru Nanak Dev Ji arrived at the Dharamshala and, along with Bhai Mardana Ji, performed divine kirtan (hymn singing).
In his discourse, Guru Nanak Ji advised everyone to remain patient and continue their spiritual practice with devotion, saying, "You must keep the flow of Naam-Bani (recitation of divine hymns) alive in this way, as I cannot stay here at your request. I still have to travel to many countries and regions; my mission remains incomplete."
After spending a few days at his sister Nanaki Ji’s home, Guru Nanak Dev Ji proceeded to Talwandi Nagar to meet his parents.
