Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, after a long journey,…
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, after a long journey, reached Cuttack, a city in Odisha. The then king of Cuttack was a devotee of the Goddess. However, after having the darshan of Guru Ji and listening to his discourse on the worship of the formless God, he abandoned the worship of deities.
Seeing this, his guru, Chaitanya Bharati, became extremely angry. He threatened to destroy Guru Ji using his tantric powers. However, Guru Ji remained calm and composed, unmoved by his threats. For two to three days, Chaitanya Bharati attempted to use his mantra powers, but none of them worked.
Whenever the melodious sounds of Guru Ji’s kirtan reached his ears, his anger subsided, and his tantric powers became ineffective in the presence of these divine spiritual vibrations. Eventually, Chaitanya Bharati realized his mistake.
As an act of atonement, he presented a small plant as an offering in Guru Ji’s service. This plant symbolized the foundation of friendship, as he had now surrendered, realizing that all of nature’s powers were under Guru Ji’s command.
This plant was planted in the earth, and it eventually grew into a tree, which still exists as a testament to this event.
