Guru Nanak Dev Ji Sakhi #31

Guru Nanak Dev Ji, returning from the…

Guru Nanak Dev Ji, returning from the Lipulekh Pass, traveled along the banks of the Kali River and reached Dharchula, which is located on the Nepal-India border. From there, he passed through Pithoragarh and arrived at Almora city.

During those days, the Chand dynasty kings in Almora used to offer human sacrifices to please Chandi Devi. Guru Ji strongly opposed this cruel practice and said:

"To sacrifice a living, beautiful, and healthy human being—who has been created by the Lord just like us—for the sake of an inanimate stone idol, which you yourselves have made, how can this be justified?"

"The Lord can never be pleased in this way. Instead, we should always serve all living beings, for we are the living idols created by the Lord. A part of the Divine exists in all of us. He is our all-pervading Father, and we should worship only that Eternal Being (Akal Purakh)."

Hearing this, the king felt deeply ashamed.
