After emerging victorious from Malik Bhago’s…
After emerging victorious from Malik Bhago’s place, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji returned. A few days later, the son of the local commander, Nawab Jalim Khan, fell seriously ill. Despite several treatments, he did not recover. Eventually, the hakeems (physicians) gave up and said, "Now, everything depends on Allah’s mercy rather than medicine. You should pray."
At this, the officer Malik Bhago suggested that the local pirs and fakirs should be called to offer prayers to Allah for the child's recovery, as their words carry great power. Upon hearing this, Jalim Khan ordered that all pirs and fakirs be captured and brought to him. His order was immediately followed, and all the pirs and fakirs of the town were arrested, including Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Addressing all the fakirs, Jalim Khan said, "You must pray to God for my son’s health. If my son recovers, I will reward you, but if he does not, then all of you are frauds."
Hearing this, Guru Ji replied, "In Allah’s court, prayers made under pressure or force are never accepted. Only prayers filled with love, devotion, and a sincere heart are heard there. That is why your son cannot be cured."
The reasoning behind Guru Ji’s words seemed logical to Commander Jalim Khan. He immediately ordered the release of all the fakirs.
