Guru Nanak Dev Ji Sakhi #2

Nanak Ji's Childhood Games

The days of joy and celebration quickly passed, and young Nanak Dev turned five years old. At this age, he began playing with children of his age. However, Nanak Ji’s games were different from others. He would sit cross-legged, form groups of children, and engage in discussions about knowledge, which fascinated all the children. As a result, all the children started following Nanak Ji's leadership.

Through play, Nanak Ji guided others and taught lessons of equality, love, truth, and bravery, ensuring that no disputes ever arose among the children. Thus, everyone adored Nanak Ji. No game felt complete without him, and the children eagerly waited for his presence. Nanak Ji would share the food he brought from home with others and ensured there was no snatching or fighting.

Throughout Talwandi, Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s fame began to spread—people wondered how such a young boy could teach others and encourage them to chant God’s name. Everyone in the village started admiring and respecting him. Nanak Ji became the leader of the children's group, and all children of his age preferred to stay with him. It felt as if no game was complete without Nanak Ji. At home, Mata Tripta Ji was delighted to have such an extraordinary child. However, the realization that Nanak Ji had been sent by the Almighty for a special purpose was known only to his sister, Nanaki Ji.

Nanak Ji was different from other children. His devotion to chanting God’s name and encouraging others to do the same was remarkable. Sometimes, it seemed as if divine powers resided within him. Whenever he saw a Brahmin or others engaging in hypocrisy, he would smile, though no one could understand his thoughts or the reason behind his smile. But in Nanak Ji’s mind, there was a desire to enlighten the entire world about the Supreme God. And so, time passed in this manner.
