ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਜੋ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਲੋਗ ॥

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

गउड़ी महला ५ ॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਜੋ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਲੋਗ ॥

vaḍē vaḍē jō dīsahi lōg ॥

वडे वडे जो दीसहि लोग ॥

Those who seem to be great and powerful,

ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਰੋਗ ॥੧॥

tin kau biāpai chintā rōg ॥1॥

तिन कउ बिआपै चिंता रोग ॥१॥

Are afflicted by the disease of anxiety. ||1||

ਕਉਨ ਵਡਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

kaun vaḍā māiā vaḍiāī ॥

कउन वडा माइआ वडिआई ॥

Who is great by the greatness of Maya?

ਸੋ ਵਡਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sō vaḍā jini rām liv lāī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

सो वडा जिनि राम लिव लाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

They alone are great, who are lovingly attached to the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਭੂਮੀਆ ਭੂਮਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਿਤ ਲੁਝੈ ॥

bhūmīā bhūmi ūpri nit lujhai ॥

भूमीआ भूमि ऊपरि नित लुझै ॥

The landlord fights over his land each day.

ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਬੁਝੈ ॥੨॥

chhōḍi chalai trisnā nahī bujhai ॥2॥

छोडि चलै त्रिसना नही बुझै ॥२॥

He shall have to leave it in the end, and yet his desire is still not satisfied. ||2||

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥

kahu nānak ihu tatu bīchārā ॥

कहु नानक इहु ततु बीचारा ॥

Says Nanak, this is the essence of Truth:

ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਨਾਹੀ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ॥੩॥੪੪॥੧੧੩॥

binu hari bhajan nāhī chhuṭkārā ॥3॥44॥113॥

बिनु हरि भजन नाही छुटकारा ॥३॥४४॥११३॥

Without the Lord's meditation, there is no salvation. ||3||44||113||
