ਵਾਇਨਿ ਚੇਲੇ ਨਚਨਿ ਗੁਰ ॥
vāini chēlē nacni gur ॥
वाइनि चेले नचनि गुर ॥
The disciples play the music, and the gurus dance.
ਪੈਰ ਹਲਾਇਨਿ ਫੇਰਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਿ ਸਿਰ ॥
pair halāini phēran isir ॥
पैर हलाइनि फेरन् िसिर ॥
They move their feet and roll their heads.
ਉਡਿ ਉਡਿ ਰਾਵਾ ਝਾਟੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
uḍi uḍi rāvā jhāṭai pāi ॥
उडि उडि रावा झाटै पाइ ॥
The dust flies and falls upon their hair.
ਵੇਖੈ ਲੋਕੁ ਹਸੈ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
vēkhai lōku hasai ghari jāi ॥
वेखै लोकु हसै घरि जाइ ॥
Beholding them, the people laugh, and then go home.
ਰੋਟੀਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਪੂਰਹਿ ਤਾਲ ॥
rōṭīā kārṇi pūrhi tāl ॥
रोटीआ कारणि पूरहि ताल ॥
They beat the drums for the sake of bread.
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾੜਹਿ ਧਰਤੀ ਨਾਲਿ ॥
āpu pachhāṛhi dhartī nāli ॥
आपु पछाड़हि धरती नालि ॥
They throw themselves upon the ground.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਗੋਪੀਆ ਗਾਵਨਿ ਕਾਨ੍ ॥
gāvni gōpīā gāvni kān ॥
गावनि गोपीआ गावनि कान् ॥
They sing of the milk-maids, they sing of the Krishnas.
ਗਾਵਨਿ ਸੀਤਾ ਰਾਜੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
gāvni sītā rājē rām ॥
गावनि सीता राजे राम ॥
They sing of Sitas, and Ramas and kings.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
nirbhau nirṅkāru sachu nāmu ॥
निरभउ निरंकारु सचु नामु ॥
The Lord is fearless and formless; His Name is True.
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਗਲ ਜਹਾਨੁ ॥
jā kā kīā sagal jahānu ॥
जा का कीआ सगल जहानु ॥
The entire universe is His Creation.
ਸੇਵਕ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਕਰਮਿ ਚੜਾਉ ॥
sēvak sēvhi karmi chaṛāu ॥
सेवक सेवहि करमि चड़ाउ ॥
Those servants, whose destiny is awakened, serve the Lord.
ਭਿੰਨੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਮਨਿ ਚਾਉ ॥
bhinnī raiṇi jinā mani chāu ॥
भिंनी रैणि जिन्ा मनि चाउ ॥
The night of their lives is cool with dew; their minds are filled with love for the Lord.
ਸਿਖੀ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
sikhī sikhiā gur vīchāri ॥
सिखी सिखिआ गुर वीचारि ॥
Contemplating the Guru, I have been taught these teachings;
ਨਦਰੀ ਕਰਮਿ ਲਘਾਏ ਪਾਰਿ ॥
nadrī karmi laghāē pāri ॥
नदरी करमि लघाए पारि ॥
Granting His Grace, He carries His servants across.
ਕੋਲੂ ਚਰਖਾ ਚਕੀ ਚਕੁ ॥
kōlū charkhā chakī chaku ॥
कोलू चरखा चकी चकु ॥
The oil-press, the spinning wheel, the grinding stones, the potter's wheel,
ਥਲ ਵਾਰੋਲੇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਅਨੰਤੁ ॥
thal vārōlē bahutu anntu ॥
थल वारोले बहुतु अनंतु ॥
The numerous, countless whirlwinds in the desert,
ਲਾਟੂ ਮਾਧਾਣੀਆ ਅਨਗਾਹ ॥
lāṭū mādhāṇīā angāh ॥
लाटू माधाणीआ अनगाह ॥
The spinning tops, the churning sticks, the threshers,
ਪੰਖੀ ਭਉਦੀਆ ਲੈਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਹ ॥
paṅkhī bhaudīā laini na sāh ॥
पंखी भउदीआ लैनि न साह ॥
The breathless tumblings of the birds,
ਸੂਐ ਚਾੜਿ ਭਵਾਈਅਹਿ ਜੰਤ ॥
sūai chāṛi bhavāīhi jant ॥
सूऐ चाड़ि भवाईअहि जंत ॥
And the men moving round and round on spindles
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਉਦਿਆ ਗਣਤ ਨ ਅੰਤ ॥
nānak bhaudiā gaṇat na ant ॥
नानक भउदिआ गणत न अंत ॥
O Nanak, the tumblers are countless and endless.
ਬੰਧਨ ਬੰਧਿ ਭਵਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥
bandhan bandhi bhavāē sōi ॥
बंधन बंधि भवाए सोइ ॥
The Lord binds us in bondage - so do we spin around.
ਪਇਐ ਕਿਰਤਿ ਨਚੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
paiai kirti nachai sabhu kōi ॥
पइऐ किरति नचै सभु कोइ ॥
According to their actions, so do all people dance.
ਨਚਿ ਨਚਿ ਹਸਹਿ ਚਲਹਿ ਸੇ ਰੋਇ ॥
nachi nachi hashi chalhi sē rōi ॥
नचि नचि हसहि चलहि से रोइ ॥
Those who dance and dance and laugh, shall weep on their ultimate departure.
ਉਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਹੀ ਸਿਧ ਨ ਹੋਹਿ ॥
uḍi na jāhī sidh na hōhi ॥
उडि न जाही सिध न होहि ॥
They do not fly to the heavens, nor do they become Siddhas.
ਨਚਣੁ ਕੁਦਣੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਚਾਉ ॥
nacṇu kudṇu man kā chāu ॥
नचणु कुदणु मन का चाउ ॥
They dance and jump around on the urgings of their minds.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ੍ ਮਨਿ ਭਉ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਉ ॥੨॥
nānak jin mani bhau tinā mani bhāu ॥2॥
नानक जिन् मनि भउ तिन्ा मनि भाउ ॥२॥
O Nanak, those whose minds are filled with the Fear of God, have the love of God in their minds as well. ||2||
