ਤੁਮ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਰਬ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਇਕ ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਦੇ ਕਾਨੇ ॥

ਤੁਮ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਰਬ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਇਕ ਬਿਨਉ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਦੇ ਕਾਨੇ ॥

tum daiāl sarab dukh bhañjan ik binau sunhu dē kānē ॥

तुम दइआल सरब दुख भंजन इक बिनउ सुनहु दे काने ॥

You are Merciful, the Destroyer of all pain. Please give me Your Ear and listen to my prayer.

ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਤੁਮ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੇ ॥੧॥

jis tē tum hari jānē suāmī sō satiguru mēli mērā prānē ॥1॥

जिस ते तुम हरि जाने सुआमी सो सतिगुरु मेलि मेरा प्राने ॥१॥

Please unite me with the True Guru, my breath of life; through Him, O my Lord and Master, You are known. ||1||

ਰਾਮ ਹਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੇ ॥

rām ham satigur pārbraham kari mānē ॥

राम हम सतिगुर पारब्रहम करि माने ॥

O Lord, I acknowledge the True Guru as the Supreme Lord God.

ਹਮ ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਅਸੁਧ ਮਤਿ ਹੋਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਚਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਮ ਜਾਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ham mūṛ mugadh asudh mati hōtē gur satigur kai bacni hari ham jānē ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

हम मूड़ मुगध असुध मति होते गुर सतिगुर कै बचनि हरि हम जाने ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

I am foolish and ignorant, and my intellect is impure. Through the Teachings of the Guru, the True Guru, O Lord, I come to know You. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਤਨੇ ਰਸ ਅਨ ਰਸ ਹਮ ਦੇਖੇ ਸਭ ਤਿਤਨੇ ਫੀਕ ਫੀਕਾਨੇ ॥

jitnē ras an ras ham dēkhē sabh titnē phīk phīkānē ॥

जितने रस अन रस हम देखे सभ तितने फीक फीकाने ॥

All the pleasures and enjoyments which I have seen - I have found them all to be bland and insipid.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੀਠ ਰਸ ਗਾਨੇ ॥੨॥

hari kā nāmu ammrit rasu chākhiā mili satigur mīṭh ras gānē ॥2॥

हरि का नामु अंम्रित रसु चाखिआ मिलि सतिगुर मीठ रस गाने ॥२॥

I have tasted the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, by meeting the True Guru. It is sweet, like the juice of the sugarcane. ||2||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਤੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਮੂੜ ਦਿਵਾਨੇ ॥

jin kau guru satiguru nahī bhēṭiā tē sākat mūṛ divānē ॥

जिन कउ गुरु सतिगुरु नही भेटिआ ते साकत मूड़ दिवाने ॥

Those who have not met the Guru, the True Guru, are foolish and insane - they are faithless cynics.

ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਕਰਮਹੀਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਪਾਏ ਦੇਖਿ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਚਾਨੇ ॥੩॥

tin kē karmahīn dhuri pāē dēkhi dīpku mōhi pachānē ॥3॥

तिन के करमहीन धुरि पाए देखि दीपकु मोहि पचाने ॥३॥

Those who were pre-ordained to have no good karma at all - gazing into the lamp of emotional attachment, they are burnt, like moths in a flame. ||3||

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵ ਲਗਾਨੇ ॥

jin kau tum daiā kari mēlhu tē hari hari sēv lagānē ॥

जिन कउ तुम दइआ करि मेलहु ते हरि हरि सेव लगाने ॥

Those whom You, in Your Mercy, have met, Lord, are committed to Your Service.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਨੇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੮॥੫੬॥

jan nānak hari hari hari japi pragṭē mati gurmati nāmi samānē ॥4॥4॥18॥56॥

जन नानक हरि हरि हरि जपि प्रगटे मति गुरमति नामि समाने ॥४॥४॥१८॥५६॥

Servant Nanak chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. He is famous, and through the Guru's Teachings, He merges in the Name. ||4||4||18||56||
