ਤੁਮ ਬਡ ਦਾਤੇ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ॥

ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

बसंतु महला ५ ॥

Basant, Fifth Mehl:

ਤੁਮ ਬਡ ਦਾਤੇ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ॥

tum baḍ dātē dē rahē ॥

तुम बड दाते दे रहे ॥

You are the Great Giver; You continue to give.

ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਮਹਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੇ ॥

jīa prāṇ mahi ravi rahē ॥

जीअ प्राण महि रवि रहे ॥

You permeate and pervade my soul, and my breath of life.

ਦੀਨੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਖਾਨ ॥

dīnē saglē bhōjan khān ॥

दीने सगले भोजन खान ॥

You have given me all sorts of foods and dishes.

ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਇਕੁ ਗੁਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਨ ॥੧॥

mōhi nirgun iku gunu na jān ॥1॥

मोहि निरगुन इकु गुनु न जान ॥१॥

I am unworthy; I know none of Your Virtues at all. ||1||

ਹਉ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਰ ॥

hau kachhū na jānau tērī sār ॥

हउ कछू न जानउ तेरी सार ॥

I do not understand anything of Your Worth.

ਤੂ ਕਰਿ ਗਤਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

tū kari gati mērī prabh daiār ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

तू करि गति मेरी प्रभ दइआर ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Save me, O my Merciful Lord God. ||1||Pause||

ਜਾਪ ਨ ਤਾਪ ਨ ਕਰਮ ਕੀਤਿ ॥

jāp na tāp na karam kīti ॥

जाप न ताप न करम कीति ॥

I have not practiced meditation, austerities or good actions.

ਆਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਛੂ ਰੀਤਿ ॥

āvai nāhī kachhū rīti ॥

आवै नाही कछू रीति ॥

I do not know the way to meet You.

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖਉ ਆਸ ਏਕ ॥

man mahi rākhau ās ēk ॥

मन महि राखउ आस एक ॥

Within my mind, I have placed my hopes in the One Lord alone.

ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਤਰਉ ਟੇਕ ॥੨॥

nām tērē kī tarau ṭēk ॥2॥

नाम तेरे की तरउ टेक ॥२॥

The Support of Your Name shall carry me across. ||2||

ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਮ੍‍ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨ ॥

sarab kalā prabh tum‍ prabīn ॥

सरब कला प्रभ तुम्‍ प्रबीन ॥

You are the Expert, O God, in all powers.

ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਜਲਹਿ ਮੀਨ ॥

antu na pāvahi jalhi mīn ॥

अंतु न पावहि जलहि मीन ॥

The fish cannot find the limits of the water.

ਅਗਮ ਅਗਮ ਊਚਹ ਤੇ ਊਚ ॥

agam agam ūchhah tē ūch ॥

अगम अगम ऊचह ते ऊच ॥

You are Inaccessible and Unfathomable, the Highest of the High.

ਹਮ ਥੋਰੇ ਤੁਮ ਬਹੁਤ ਮੂਚ ॥੩॥

ham thōrē tum bahut mūch ॥3॥

हम थोरे तुम बहुत मूच ॥३॥

I am small, and You are so very Great. ||3||

ਜਿਨ ਤੂ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਸੇ ਗਨੀ ॥

jin tū dhiāiā sē ganī ॥

जिन तू धिआइआ से गनी ॥

Those who meditate on You are wealthy.

ਜਿਨ ਤੂ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਧਨੀ ॥

jin tū pāiā sē dhanī ॥

जिन तू पाइआ से धनी ॥

Those who attain You are rich.

ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਸੁਖੀ ਸੇ ॥

jini tū sēviā sukhī sē ॥

जिनि तू सेविआ सुखी से ॥

Those who serve You are peaceful.

ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰੇ ॥੪॥੭॥

sant sarṇi nānak parē ॥4॥7॥

संत सरणि नानक परे ॥४॥७॥

Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Saints. ||4||7||
