ਤੂੰ ਜਲਨਿਧਿ ਹਮ ਮੀਨ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ

ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

माझ महला ५ ॥

Maajh, Fifth Mehl

ਤੂੰ ਜਲਨਿਧਿ ਹਮ ਮੀਨ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥

tūṃ jalnidhi ham mīn tumārē ॥

तूं जलनिधि हम मीन तुमारे ॥

: You are the Ocean of Water, and I am Your fish.

ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੂੰਦ ਹਮ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਤਿਖਹਾਰੇ ॥

tērā nāmu būnd ham chātrik tikhhārē ॥

तेरा नामु बूंद हम चात्रिक तिखहारे ॥

Your Name is the drop of water, and I am a thirsty rainbird.

ਤੁਮਰੀ ਆਸ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੁ ਲੀਨਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

tumrī ās piāsā tumrī tum hī saṅgi manu līnā jīu ॥1॥

तुमरी आस पिआसा तुमरी तुम ही संगि मनु लीना जीउ ॥१॥

You are my hope, and You are my thirst. My mind is absorbed in You. ||1||

ਜਿਉ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ ਪੀ ਖੀਰੁ ਅਘਾਵੈ ॥

jiu bāriku pī khīru aghāvai ॥

जिउ बारिकु पी खीरु अघावै ॥

Just as the baby is satisfied by drinking milk,

ਜਿਉ ਨਿਰਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

jiu nirdhanu dhanu dēkhi sukhu pāvai ॥

जिउ निरधनु धनु देखि सुखु पावै ॥

And the poor person is pleased by seeing wealth,

ਤ੍ਰਿਖਾਵੰਤ ਜਲੁ ਪੀਵਤ ਠੰਢਾ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਨਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

trikhāvant jalu pīvat ṭhaṇḍhā tiu hari saṅgi ihu manu bhīnā jīu ॥2॥

त्रिखावंत जलु पीवत ठंढा तिउ हरि संगि इहु मनु भीना जीउ ॥२॥

And the thirsty person is refreshed by drinking cool water, so is this mind drenched with delight in the Lord. ||2||

ਜਿਉ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੈ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਾ ॥

jiu andhiārai dīpku pargāsā ॥

जिउ अंधिआरै दीपकु परगासा ॥

Just as the darkness is lit up by the lamp,

ਭਰਤਾ ਚਿਤਵਤ ਪੂਰਨ ਆਸਾ ॥

bhartā chitvat pūran āsā ॥

भरता चितवत पूरन आसा ॥

And the hopes of the wife are fulfilled by thinking about her husband,

ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਿਉ ਹੋਤ ਅਨੰਦਾ ਤਿਉ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗੀਨਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

mili prītam jiu hōt anndā tiu hari raṅgi manu raṅgīnā jīu ॥3॥

मिलि प्रीतम जिउ होत अनंदा तिउ हरि रंगि मनु रंगीना जीउ ॥३॥

And people are filled with bliss upon meeting their beloved, so is my mind imbued with the Lord's Love. ||3||

ਸੰਤਨ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

santan mō kau hari mārgi pāiā ॥

संतन मो कउ हरि मारगि पाइआ ॥

The Saints have set me upon the Lord's Path.

ਸਾਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਗਿਝਾਇਆ ॥

sādh kripāli hari saṅgi gijhāiā ॥

साध क्रिपालि हरि संगि गिझाइआ ॥

By the Grace of the Holy Saint, I have been attuned to the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਹਮਰਾ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਸੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਚੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੪॥੨੧॥

hari hamrā ham hari kē dāsē nānak sabdu gurū sachu dīnā jīu ॥4॥14॥21॥

हरि हमरा हम हरि के दासे नानक सबदु गुरू सचु दीना जीउ ॥४॥१४॥२१॥

The Lord is mine, and I am the slave of the Lord. O Nanak, the Guru has blessed me with the True Word of the Shabad. ||4||14||21||
