ਸਸਾ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਅਬ ਹਾਰੇ ॥ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੇਦ ਪੂਕਾਰੇ ॥

sasā sarni parē ab hārē ॥ sāsatr simriti bēd pūkārē ॥

ससा सरनि परे अब हारे ॥ सासत्र सिम्रिति बेद पूकारे ॥

SASSA: I have now entered Your Sanctuary, Lord; I am so tired of reciting the Shaastras, the Simritees and the Vedas.

ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਤ ਸੋਧਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥

sōdhat sōdhat sōdhi bīchārā ॥

सोधत सोधत सोधि बीचारा ॥

I searched and searched and searched, and now I have come to realize,

ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਜਨ ਨਹੀ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਾ ॥

binu hari bhajan nahī chhuṭkārā ॥

बिनु हरि भजन नही छुटकारा ॥

That without meditating on the Lord, there is no emancipation.

ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਮ ਭੂਲਨਹਾਰੇ ॥

sāsi sāsi ham bhūlnahārē ॥

सासि सासि हम भूलनहारे ॥

With each and every breath, I make mistakes.

ਤੁਮ ਸਮਰਥ ਅਗਨਤ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥

tum samrath agnat apārē ॥

तुम समरथ अगनत अपारे ॥

You are All-powerful, endless and infinite.

ਸਰਨਿ ਪਰੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖੁ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥

sarni parē kī rākhu daiālā ॥

सरनि परे की राखु दइआला ॥

I seek Your Sanctuary - please save me, Merciful Lord!

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੁਮਰੇ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲਾ ॥੪੮॥

nānak tumrē bāl gupālā ॥48॥

नानक तुमरे बाल गुपाला ॥४८॥

Nanak is Your child, O Lord of the World. ||48||
