Raamkalee, Third Mehl, Ashtapadees:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik-ōṅkār satigur prasādi ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਰਮੈ ਦੀਆ ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਕੰਨੀ ਪਾਇ ਜੋਗੀ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਕਰਿ ਤੂ ਦਇਆ ॥

sarmai dīā mundrā kannī pāi jōgī khinthā kari tū daiā ॥

सरमै दीआ मुंद्रा कंनी पाइ जोगी खिंथा करि तू दइआ ॥

Make humility your ear-rings, Yogi, and compassion your patched coat.

ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਣੁ ਬਿਭੂਤਿ ਲਾਇ ਜੋਗੀ ਤਾ ਤੀਨਿ ਭਵਣ ਜਿਣਿ ਲਇਆ ॥੧॥

āvṇu jāṇu bibhūti lāi jōgī tā tīni bhavaṇ jiṇi laiā ॥1॥

आवणु जाणु बिभूति लाइ जोगी ता तीनि भवण जिणि लइआ ॥१॥

Let coming and going be the ashes you apply to your body, Yogi, and then you shall conquer the three worlds. ||1||

ਐਸੀ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਵਜਾਇ ਜੋਗੀ ॥

aisī kiṅgurī vajāi jōgī ॥

ऐसी किंगुरी वजाइ जोगी ॥

Play that harp, Yogi,

ਜਿਤੁ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਅਨਹਦੁ ਵਾਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jitu kiṅgurī anhadu vājai hari siu rahai liv lāi ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

जितु किंगुरी अनहदु वाजै हरि सिउ रहै लिव लाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Which vibrates the unstruck sound current, and remain lovingly absorbed in the Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਪਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਝੋਲੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਭੁਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

satu santōkhu patu kari jhōlī jōgī ammrit nāmu bhugti pāī ॥

सतु संतोखु पतु करि झोली जोगी अंम्रित नामु भुगति पाई ॥

Make truth and contentment your plate and pouch, Yogi; take the Ambrosial Naam as your food.

ਧਿਆਨ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਸਿੰਙੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਜਾਈ ॥੨॥

dhiān kā kari ḍaṇḍā jōgī siṅṅī surti vajāī ॥2॥

धिआन का करि डंडा जोगी सिंङी सुरति वजाई ॥२॥

Make meditation your walking stick, Yogi, and make higher consciousness the horn you blow. ||2||

ਮਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਕਰਿ ਆਸਣਿ ਬੈਸੁ ਜੋਗੀ ਤਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਲਪਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥

manu driṛu kari āsṇi baisu jōgī tā tērī kalpaṇā jāī ॥

मनु द्रिड़ु करि आसणि बैसु जोगी ता तेरी कलपणा जाई ॥

Make your stable mind the Yogic posture you sit in, Yogi, and then you shall be rid of your tormenting desires.

ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰੀ ਮਹਿ ਮੰਗਣਿ ਚੜਹਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥

kāiā nagrī mahi maṅgṇi chaṛhi jōgī tā nāmu palai pāī ॥3॥

काइआ नगरी महि मंगणि चड़हि जोगी ता नामु पलै पाई ॥३॥

Go begging in the village of the body, Yogi, and then, you shall obtain the Naam in your lap. ||3||

ਇਤੁ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਨਾ ਸਚੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥

itu kiṅgurī dhiānu na lāgai jōgī nā sachu palai pāi ॥

इतु किंगुरी धिआनु न लागै जोगी ना सचु पलै पाइ ॥

This harp does not center you in meditation, Yogi, nor does it bring the True Name into your lap.

ਇਤੁ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥

itu kiṅgurī sānti na āvai jōgī abhimānu na vichhu jāi ॥4॥

इतु किंगुरी सांति न आवै जोगी अभिमानु न विचहु जाइ ॥४॥

This harp does not bring you peace, Yogi, nor eliminate egotism from within you. ||4||

ਭਉ ਭਾਉ ਦੁਇ ਪਤ ਲਾਇ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡੀ ॥

bhau bhāu dui pat lāi jōgī ihu sarīru kari ḍaṇḍī ॥

भउ भाउ दुइ पत लाइ जोगी इहु सरीरु करि डंडी ॥

Make the Fear of God, and the Love of God, the two gourds of your lute, Yogi, and make this body its neck.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਤੰਤੀ ਵਾਜੈ ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਖੰਡੀ ॥੫॥

gurmukhi hōvahi tā tantī vājai in bidhi trisnā khaṇḍī ॥5॥

गुरमुखि होवहि ता तंती वाजै इन बिधि त्रिसना खंडी ॥५॥

Become Gurmukh, and then vibrate the strings; in this way, your desires shall depart. ||5||

ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੁਝੈ ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਕਹੀਐ ਏਕਸ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥

hukmu bujhai sō jōgī kahīai ēkas siu chitu lāē ॥

हुकमु बुझै सो जोगी कहीऐ एकस सिउ चितु लाए ॥

One who understands the Hukam of the Lord's Command is called a Yogi; he links his consciousness to the One Lord.

ਸਹਸਾ ਤੂਟੈ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਇਵ ਪਾਏ ॥੬॥

sahasā tūṭai nirmalu hōvai jōg jugti iv pāē ॥6॥

सहसा तूटै निरमलु होवै जोग जुगति इव पाए ॥६॥

His cynicism is dispelled, and he becomes immaculately pure; this is how he finds the Way of Yoga. ||6||

ਨਦਰੀ ਆਵਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥

nadrī āvdā sabhu kichhu binsai hari sētī chitu lāi ॥

नदरी आवदा सभु किछु बिनसै हरि सेती चितु लाइ ॥

Everything that comes into view shall be destroyed; focus your consciousness on the Lord.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਲਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਤਾ ਇਹ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੭॥

satigur nāli tērī bhāvnī lāgai tā ih sōjhī pāi ॥7॥

सतिगुर नालि तेरी भावनी लागै ता इह सोझी पाइ ॥७॥

Enshrine love for the True Guru, and then you shall obtain this understanding. ||7||

ਏਹੁ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਿ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਪਰਭਵਣੁ ਕਰਹਿ ॥

ēhu jōgu na hōvai jōgī ji kuṭmbu chhōḍi parbhavṇu karahi ॥

एहु जोगु न होवै जोगी जि कुटंबु छोडि परभवणु करहि ॥

This is not Yoga, O Yogi, to abandon your family and wander around.

ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਮਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਅਪਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਹਹਿ ॥੮॥

grih sarīr mahi hari hari nāmu gur parsādī apṇā hari prabhu lahhi ॥8॥

ग्रिह सरीर महि हरि हरि नामु गुर परसादी अपणा हरि प्रभु लहहि ॥८॥

The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is within the household of the body. By Guru's Grace, you shall find your Lord God. ||8||

ਇਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਮਿਟੀ ਕਾ ਪੁਤਲਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਵਡਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥

ihu jagtu miṭī kā putlā jōgī isu mahi rōgu vaḍā trisnā māiā ॥

इहु जगतु मिटी का पुतला जोगी इसु महि रोगु वडा त्रिसना माइआ ॥

This world is a puppet of clay, Yogi; the terrible disease, the desire for Maya is in it.

ਅਨੇਕ ਜਤਨ ਭੇਖ ਕਰੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥੯॥

anēk jatan bhēkh karē jōgī rōgu na jāi gavāiā ॥9॥

अनेक जतन भेख करे जोगी रोगु न जाइ गवाइआ ॥९॥

Making all sorts of efforts, and wearing religious robes, Yogi, this disease cannot be cured. ||9||

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਹੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

hari kā nāmu aukhdhu hai jōgī jis nō manni vasāē ॥

हरि का नामु अउखधु है जोगी जिस नो मंनि वसाए ॥

The Name of the Lord is the medicine, Yogi; the Lord enshrines it in the mind.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਬੂਝੈ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥੧੦॥

gurmukhi hōvai sōī būjhai jōg jugti sō pāē ॥10॥

गुरमुखि होवै सोई बूझै जोग जुगति सो पाए ॥१०॥

One who becomes Gurmukh understands this; he alone finds the Way of Yoga. ||10||

ਜੋਗੈ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਹੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥

jōgai kā mārgu bikhmu hai jōgī jis nō nadri karē sō pāē ॥

जोगै का मारगु बिखमु है जोगी जिस नो नदरि करे सो पाए ॥

The Path of Yoga is very difficult, Yogi; he alone finds it, whom God blesses with His Grace.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥੧੧॥

antri bāhri ēkō vēkhai vichhu bharmu chukāē ॥11॥

अंतरि बाहरि एको वेखै विचहु भरमु चुकाए ॥११॥

Inside and outside, he sees the One Lord; he eliminates doubt from within himself. ||11||

ਵਿਣੁ ਵਜਾਈ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਵਾਜੈ ਜੋਗੀ ਸਾ ਕਿੰਗੁਰੀ ਵਜਾਇ ॥

viṇu vajāī kiṅgurī vājai jōgī sā kiṅgurī vajāi ॥

विणु वजाई किंगुरी वाजै जोगी सा किंगुरी वजाइ ॥

So play the harp which vibrates without being played, Yogi.

ਕਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਰਹਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧੨॥੧॥੧੦॥

kahai nānku mukti hōvahi jōgī sāchē rahhi samāi ॥12॥1॥10॥

कहै नानकु मुकति होवहि जोगी साचे रहहि समाइ ॥१२॥१॥१०॥

Says Nanak, thus you shall be liberated, Yogi, and remain merged in the True Lord. ||12||1||10||
