ਸੁਖ ਰਾਜੇ ਹਰੀਚੰਦ ਘਰ ਨਾਰ ਸੁ ਤਾਰਾ ਲੋਚਨ ਰਾਣੀ॥

ਸੁਖ ਰਾਜੇ ਹਰੀਚੰਦ ਘਰ ਨਾਰ ਸੁ ਤਾਰਾ ਲੋਚਨ ਰਾਣੀ॥

sukh rājē harīchand ghar nār su tārā lōchan rāṇī॥

सुख राजे हरीचंद घर नार सु तारा लोचन राणी॥

King HariChand had a queen with beautiful eyes, Tara, who had made his home the abode of comforts.

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲ ਗਾਂਵਸੇ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਜਾਇ ਸੁਣੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ॥

sādh saṅgti mil gāṃvsē rātīṃ jāi suṇai gurbāṇī॥

साध संगति मिल गांवसे रातीं जाइ सुणै गुरबाणी॥

At night she would go to the place where in the form of holy congregation, would recite the holy hymns.

ਪਿਛੋਂ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਾਗਿਆ ਅੱਧੀ ਰਾਤ ਨਿਖੰਡ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ॥

pichhōṃ rājā jāgiā addhī rāt nikhaṇḍ vihāṇī॥

पिछों राजा जागिआ अॱधी रात निखंड विहाणी॥

After she had left, the King awoke in the middle of the night and realised she had gone.

ਰਾਣੀ ਦਿਸ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਰਤ ਗਈ ਹੈਰਾਣੀ॥

rāṇī dis na āvaī man vic varat gaī hairāṇī॥

राणी दिस न आवई मन विच वरत गई हैराणी॥

He could not find the Queen anywhere and his heart filled with astonishment

ਹੋਰਤੁ ਰਾਤੀਂ ਉੱਠਕੈ ਚਲਿਆ ਪਿਛੈ ਤਰਲ ਜੁਆਣੀ॥

hōrtu rātīṃ uṭṭhkai chaliā pichhai taral juāṇī॥

होरतु रातीं उॱठकै चलिआ पिछै तरल जुआणी॥

The following night he followed the young queen.

ਰਾਣੀ ਪਹੁਤੀ ਸੰਗਤੀਂ ਰਾਜੇ ਖੜੀ ਖੜਾਂਉ ਨੀਸਾਣੀ॥

rāṇī pahutī saṅgtīṃ rājē khaṛī khaṛāṃu nīsāṇī॥

राणी पहुती संगतीं राजे खड़ी खड़ांउ नीसाणी॥

The queen reached the holy congregation and the King lifted one of her sandals from there (so that he could prove the infidelity of the queen).

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਜੋੜੀ ਜੁੜੀ ਖੜਾਉਂ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ॥

sādh saṅgti ārādhiā jōṛī juṛī khaṛāuṃ purāṇī॥

साध संगति आराधिआ जोड़ी जुड़ी खड़ाउं पुराणी॥

When about to go, the queen concentrated upon the holy congregation and the one sandal became a pair.

ਰਾਜੇ ਡਿਠਾ ਚਲਿਤ ਇਹ ਖੜਾਂਵ ਹੈ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ॥

rājē ḍiṭhā chalit ih khaṛāṃv hai chōj viḍāṇī॥

राजे डिठा चलित इह खड़ांव है चोज विडाणी॥

The king upheld this feat and realized that there her matching sandal was a miracle.

ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੬॥

sādh saṅgat viṭhu kurbāṇī ॥6॥

साध संगत विटहु कुरबाणी ॥६॥

I am sacrifice unto the holy congregation.
