ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਾ ॥

sukhu nāhī rē hari bhagti binā ॥

सुखु नाही रे हरि भगति बिना ॥

There is no peace without devotional worship of the Lord.

ਜੀਤਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਇਹੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਪਿ ਇਕ ਖਿਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jīti janmu ihu ratnu amōlku sādhsaṅgti japi ik khinā ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

जीति जनमु इहु रतनु अमोलकु साधसंगति जपि इक खिना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Be victorious, and win the priceless jewel of this human life, by meditating on Him in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, even for an instant. ||1||Pause||

ਸੁਤ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਬਿਨੋਦ ॥ ਛੋਡਿ ਗਏ ਬਹੁ ਲੋਗ ਭੋਗ ॥੧॥

sut sampti banitā binōd ॥ chhōḍi gaē bahu lōg bhōg ॥1॥

सुत संपति बनिता बिनोद ॥ छोडि गए बहु लोग भोग ॥१॥

Many have renounced and left their children, wealth, spouses, joyful games and pleasures. ||1||

ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਰਾਜ ਰੰਗ ॥

haivar gaivar rāj raṅg ॥

हैवर गैवर राज रंग ॥

Horses, elephants and the pleasures of power

ਤਿਆਗਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਹੈ ਮੂੜ ਨੰਗ ॥੨॥

tiāgi chaliō hai mūṛ naṅg ॥2॥

तिआगि चलिओ है मूड़ नंग ॥२॥

- leaving these behind, the fool must depart naked. ||2||

ਚੋਆ ਚੰਦਨ ਦੇਹ ਫੂਲਿਆ ॥

chōā chandan dēh phūliā ॥

चोआ चंदन देह फूलिआ ॥

The body, scented with musk and sandalwood

ਸੋ ਤਨੁ ਧਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਰੂਲਿਆ ॥੩॥

sō tanu dhar saṅgi rūliā ॥3॥

सो तनु धर संगि रूलिआ ॥३॥

- that body shall come to roll in the dust. ||3||

ਮੋਹਿ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਜਾਨੈ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ॥

mōhi mōhiā jānai dūri hai ॥

मोहि मोहिआ जानै दूरि है ॥

Infatuated with emotional attachment, they think that God is far away.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੩੯॥

kahu nānak sadā hadūri hai ॥4॥1॥139॥

कहु नानक सदा हदूरि है ॥४॥१॥१३९॥

Says Nanak, he is Ever-present! ||4||1||139||
