ਸਭੋ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥

First Mehl:

ਸਭੋ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੈ ਜਾਇ ॥

sabhō sūtku bharmu hai dūjai lagai jāi ॥

सभो सूतकु भरमु है दूजै लगै जाइ ॥

All impurity comes from doubt and attachment to duality.

ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥

jammṇu marṇā hukmu hai bhāṇai āvai jāi ॥

जंमणु मरणा हुकमु है भाणै आवै जाइ ॥

Birth and death are subject to the Command of the Lord's Will; through His Will we come and go.

ਖਾਣਾ ਪੀਣਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹੈ ਦਿਤੋਨੁ ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸੰਬਾਹਿ ॥

khāṇā pīṇā pavitru hai ditōnu rijku sambāhi ॥

खाणा पीणा पवित्रु है दितोनु रिजकु संबाहि ॥

Eating and drinking are pure, since the Lord gives nourishment to all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਸੂਤਕੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੩॥

nānak jinī gurmukhi bujhiā tinā sūtku nāhi ॥3॥

नानक जिन्‍ी गुरमुखि बुझिआ तिन्‍ा सूतकु नाहि ॥३॥

O Nanak, the Gurmukhs, who understand the Lord, are not stained by impurity. ||3||
