ਸਿੰਚਹਿ ਦਰਬੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਲੋਗ ॥

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:

ਸਿੰਚਹਿ ਦਰਬੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਲੋਗ ॥

siñchhi darbu dēhi dukhu lōg ॥

सिंचहि दरबु देहि दुखु लोग ॥

You gather wealth by exploiting people.

ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਜਿ ਨ ਅਵਰਾ ਜੋਗ ॥

tērai kāji na avarā jōg ॥

तेरै काजि न अवरा जोग ॥

It is of no use to you; it was meant for others.

ਕਰਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਅੰਧ ॥

kari ahṅkāru hōi vartahi andh ॥

करि अहंकारु होइ वरतहि अंध ॥

You practice egotism, and act like a blind man.

ਜਮ ਕੀ ਜੇਵੜੀ ਤੂ ਆਗੈ ਬੰਧ ॥੧॥

jam kī jēvaṛī tū āgai bandh ॥1॥

जम की जेवड़ी तू आगै बंध ॥१॥

In the world hereafter, you shall be tied to the leash of the Messenger of Death. ||1||

ਛਾਡਿ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਤਾਤਿ ਮੂੜੇ ॥

chhāḍi viḍāṇī tāti mūṛē ॥

छाडि विडाणी ताति मूड़े ॥

Give up your envy of others, you fool!

ਈਹਾ ਬਸਨਾ ਰਾਤਿ ਮੂੜੇ ॥

īhā basnā rāti mūṛē ॥

ईहा बसना राति मूड़े ॥

You only live here for a night, you fool!

ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਮਾਤੇ ਤੈ ਉਠਿ ਚਲਨਾ ॥

māiā kē mātē tai uṭhi chalnā ॥

माइआ के माते तै उठि चलना ॥

You are intoxicated with Maya, but you must soon arise and depart.

ਰਾਚਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਤੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

rāchi rahiō tū saṅgi supanā ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

राचि रहिओ तू संगि सुपना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

You are totally involved in the dream. ||1||Pause||

ਬਾਲ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਬਾਰਿਕੁ ਅੰਧ ॥

bāl bivsathā bāriku andh ॥

बाल बिवसथा बारिकु अंध ॥

In his childhood, the child is blind.

ਭਰਿ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ॥

bhari jōbni lāgā durgandh ॥

भरि जोबनि लागा दुरगंध ॥

In the fullness of youth, he is involved in foul-smelling sins.

ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਅ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਸਿੰਚੇ ਮਾਇ ॥

tritīa bivsathā siñchē māi ॥

त्रितीअ बिवसथा सिंचे माइ ॥

In the third stage of life, he gathers the wealth of Maya.

ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਆ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥੨॥

birdhi bhaiā chhōḍi chaliō pachhutāi ॥2॥

बिरधि भइआ छोडि चलिओ पछुताइ ॥२॥

And when he grows old, he must leave all this; he departs regretting and repenting. ||2||

ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਪਾਈ ਦ੍ਰੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ॥

chirṅkāl pāī drulabh dēh ॥

चिरंकाल पाई द्रुलभ देह ॥

After a very long time, one obtains this precious human body, so difficult to obtain.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਖੇਹ ॥

nām bihūṇī hōī khēh ॥

नाम बिहूणी होई खेह ॥

Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, it is reduced to dust.

ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਤੇ ਬੁਰੀ ॥

pasū parēt mugadh tē burī ॥

पसू परेत मुगध ते बुरी ॥

Worse than a beast, a demon or an idiot,

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹ ਸਿਰੀ ॥੩॥

tishi na būjhai jini ēh sirī ॥3॥

तिसहि न बूझै जिनि एह सिरी ॥३॥

Is that one who does not understand who created him. ||3||

ਸੁਣਿ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥

suṇi kartār gōvind gōpāl ॥

सुणि करतार गोविंद गोपाल ॥

Listen, O Creator Lord, Lord of the Universe, Lord of the World,

ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥

dīn daiāl sadā kirpāl ॥

दीन दइआल सदा किरपाल ॥

Merciful to the meek, forever compassionate

ਤੁਮਹਿ ਛਡਾਵਹੁ ਛੁਟਕਹਿ ਬੰਧ ॥

tumhi chhaḍāvhu chhuṭkahi bandh ॥

तुमहि छडावहु छुटकहि बंध ॥

If You emancipate the human, then his bonds are broken.

ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਗ ਅੰਧ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੨੩॥

bakhsi milāvhu nānak jag andh ॥4॥12॥23॥

बखसि मिलावहु नानक जग अंध ॥४॥१२॥२३॥

O Nanak, the people of world are blind; please, Lord, forgive them, and unite them with Yourself. ||4||12||23||
