ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਸੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਰਾਲ ॥

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl, Second House, Chau-Padas:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik-ōṅkār satigur prasādi ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਸੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਰਾਲ ॥

chhōḍi jāhi sē karahi parāl ॥

छोडि जाहि से करहि पराल ॥

You shall have to abandon the straw which you have collected.

ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥

kāmi na āvahi sē jañjāl ॥

कामि न आवहि से जंजाल ॥

These entanglements shall be of no use to you.

ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਸਿਉ ਹੀਤ ॥

saṅgi na chālhi tin siu hīt ॥

संगि न चालहि तिन सिउ हीत ॥

You are in love with those things that will not go with you.

ਜੋ ਬੈਰਾਈ ਸੇਈ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥

jō bairāī sēī mīt ॥1॥

जो बैराई सेई मीत ॥१॥

You think that your enemies are friends. ||1||

ਐਸੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥

aisē bharmi bhulē saṃsārā ॥

ऐसे भरमि भुले संसारा ॥

In such confusion, the world has gone astray.

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਖੋਇ ਗਵਾਰਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

janmu padārthu khōi gavārā ॥ rahāu ॥

जनमु पदारथु खोइ गवारा ॥ रहाउ ॥

The foolish mortal wastes this precious human life. ||Pause||

ਸਾਚੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਵੈ ਡੀਠਾ ॥

sāchu dharmu nahī bhāvai ḍīṭhā ॥

साचु धरमु नही भावै डीठा ॥

He does not like to see Truth and righteousness.

ਝੂਠ ਧੋਹ ਸਿਉ ਰਚਿਓ ਮੀਠਾ ॥

jhūṭh dhōh siu rachiō mīṭhā ॥

झूठ धोह सिउ रचिओ मीठा ॥

He is attached to falsehood and deception; they seem sweet to him.

ਦਾਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਵਿਸਰਿਆ ਦਾਤਾਰਾ ॥

dāti piārī visariā dātārā ॥

दाति पिआरी विसरिआ दातारा ॥

He loves gifts, but he forgets the Giver.

ਜਾਣੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਰਣੁ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੨॥

jāṇai nāhī marṇu vichārā ॥2॥

जाणै नाही मरणु विचारा ॥२॥

The wretched creature does not even think of death. ||2||

ਵਸਤੁ ਪਰਾਈ ਕਉ ਉਠਿ ਰੋਵੈ ॥

vastu parāī kau uṭhi rōvai ॥

वसतु पराई कउ उठि रोवै ॥

He cries for the possessions of others.

ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਸਗਲਾ ਈ ਖੋਵੈ ॥

karam dharam saglā ī khōvai ॥

करम धरम सगला ई खोवै ॥

He forfeits all the merits of his good deeds and religion.

ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੇ ॥

hukmu na būjhai āvaṇ jāṇē ॥

हुकमु न बूझै आवण जाणे ॥

He does not understand the Hukam of the Lord's Command, and so he continues coming and going in reincarnation.

ਪਾਪ ਕਰੈ ਤਾ ਪਛੋਤਾਣੇ ॥੩॥

pāp karai tā pachhōtāṇē ॥3॥

पाप करै ता पछोताणे ॥३॥

He sins, and then regrets and repents. ||3||

ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥

jō tudhu bhāvai sō parvāṇu ॥

जो तुधु भावै सो परवाणु ॥

Whatever pleases You, Lord, that alone is acceptable.

ਤੇਰੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਨੋ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥

tērē bhāṇē nō kurbāṇu ॥

तेरे भाणे नो कुरबाणु ॥

I am a sacrifice to Your Will.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗਰੀਬੁ ਬੰਦਾ ਜਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥

nānku garību bandā janu tērā ॥

नानकु गरीबु बंदा जनु तेरा ॥

Poor Nanak is Your slave, Your humble servant.

ਰਾਖਿ ਲੇਇ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੨੨॥

rākhi lēi sāhibu prabhu mērā ॥4॥1॥22॥

राखि लेइ साहिबु प्रभु मेरा ॥४॥१॥२२॥

Save me, O my Lord God Master! ||4||1||22||
