ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਬਣੀ ॥

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸਫਲ ਹੈ ਬਣੀ ॥

satigur sēvā saphal hai baṇī ॥

सतिगुर सेवा सफल है बणी ॥

Service to the True Guru is fruitful and rewarding;

ਜਿਤੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਧਣੀ ॥

jitu mili hari nāmu dhiāiā hari dhaṇī ॥

जितु मिलि हरि नामु धिआइआ हरि धणी ॥

Meeting Him, I meditate on the Name of the Lord, the Lord Master.

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੀਛੈ ਛੂਟੀ ਘਣੀ ॥੧॥

jin hari japiā tin pīchhai chhūṭī ghaṇī ॥1॥

जिन हरि जपिआ तिन पीछै छूटी घणी ॥१॥

So many are emancipated along with those who meditate on the Lord. ||1||

ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥

gursikh hari bōlhu mērē bhāī ॥

गुरसिख हरि बोलहु मेरे भाई ॥

O GurSikhs, chant the Name of the Lord, O my Siblings of Destiny.

ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਤ ਸਭ ਪਾਪ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

hari bōlat sabh pāp lahi jāī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

हरि बोलत सभ पाप लहि जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Chanting the Lord's Name, all sins are washed away. ||1||Pause||

ਜਬ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤਬ ਮਨੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ॥

jab guru miliā tab manu vasi āiā ॥

जब गुरु मिलिआ तब मनु वसि आइआ ॥

When one meets the Guru, then the mind becomes centered.

ਧਾਵਤ ਪੰਚ ਰਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥

dhāvat pañc rahē hari dhiāiā ॥

धावत पंच रहे हरि धिआइआ ॥

The five passions, running wild, are brought to rest by meditating on the Lord.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਗਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੨॥

andinu nagrī hari guṇ gāiā ॥2॥

अनदिनु नगरी हरि गुण गाइआ ॥२॥

Night and day, within the body-village, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung. ||2||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਧੂਰਿ ਜਿਨਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਈ ॥

satigur pag dhūri jinā mukhi lāī ॥

सतिगुर पग धूरि जिना मुखि लाई ॥

Those who apply the dust of the Feet of the True Guru to their faces,

ਤਿਨ ਕੂੜ ਤਿਆਗੇ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥

tin kūṛ tiāgē hari liv lāī ॥

तिन कूड़ तिआगे हरि लिव लाई ॥

Renounce falsehood and enshrine love for the Lord.

ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੁਖ ਊਜਲ ਭਾਈ ॥੩॥

tē hari dargah mukh ūjal bhāī ॥3॥

ते हरि दरगह मुख ऊजल भाई ॥३॥

Their faces are radiant in the Court of the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥

gur sēvā āpi hari bhāvai ॥

गुर सेवा आपि हरि भावै ॥

Service to the Guru is pleasing to the Lord Himself.

ਕ੍ਰਿਸਨੁ ਬਲਭਦ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਗ ਲਗਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥

krisnu balbhadru gur pag lagi dhiāvai ॥

क्रिसनु बलभद्रु गुर पग लगि धिआवै ॥

Even Krishna and Balbhadar meditated on the Lord, falling at the Guru's Feet.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੫॥੪੩॥

nānak gurmukhi hari āpi tarāvai ॥4॥5॥43॥

नानक गुरमुखि हरि आपि तरावै ॥४॥५॥४३॥

O Nanak, the Lord Himself saves the Gurmukhs. ||4||5||43||
