ਸਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਬਿਪ ਪੂਜਿ ਮਨਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤੁਲਸੀ ਮਾਲਾ ॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਸਾਲ ਗ੍ਰਾਮ ਬਿਪ ਪੂਜਿ ਮਨਾਵਹੁ ਸੁਕ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤੁਲਸੀ ਮਾਲਾ ॥

sāl grām bip pūji manāvhu sukritu tulsī mālā ॥

साल ग्राम बिप पूजि मनावहु सुक्रितु तुलसी माला ॥

O Brahmin, you worship and believe in your stone-god, and wear your ceremonial rosary beads.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿ ਬੇੜਾ ਬਾਂਧਹੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੧॥

rām nāmu japi bēṛā bāndhhu daiā karahu daiālā ॥1॥

राम नामु जपि बेड़ा बांधहु दइआ करहु दइआला ॥१॥

Chant the Name of the Lord. Build your boat, and pray, ""O Merciful Lord, please be merciful to me.""||1||

ਕਾਹੇ ਕਲਰਾ ਸਿੰਚਹੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਹੁ ॥

kāhē kalrā siñchhu janmu gavāvhu ॥

काहे कलरा सिंचहु जनमु गवावहु ॥

Why do you irrigate the barren, alkaline soil? You are wasting your life away!

ਕਾਚੀ ਢਹਗਿ ਦਿਵਾਲ ਕਾਹੇ ਗਚੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kāchī ḍhahgi divāl kāhē gachu lāvhu ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

काची ढहगि दिवाल काहे गचु लावहु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

This wall of mud is crumbling. Why bother to patch it with plaster? ||1||Pause||

ਕਰ ਹਰਿਹਟ ਮਾਲ ਟਿੰਡ ਪਰੋਵਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਜੋਵਹੁ ॥

kar harihaṭ māl ṭiṇḍ parōvhu tisu bhītri manu jōvhu ॥

कर हरिहट माल टिंड परोवहु तिसु भीतरि मनु जोवहु ॥

Let your hands be the buckets, strung on the chain, and yoke the mind as the ox to pull it; draw the water up from the well.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਿੰਚਹੁ ਭਰਹੁ ਕਿਆਰੇ ਤਉ ਮਾਲੀ ਕੇ ਹੋਵਹੁ ॥੨॥

ammritu siñchhu bharhu kiārē tau mālī kē hōvhu ॥2॥

अंम्रितु सिंचहु भरहु किआरे तउ माली के होवहु ॥२॥

Irrigate your fields with the Ambrosial Nectar, and you shall be owned by God the Gardener. ||2||

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਦੁਇ ਕਰਹੁ ਬਸੋਲੇ ਗੋਡਹੁ ਧਰਤੀ ਭਾਈ ॥

kāmu krōdhu dui karahu basōlē gōḍhu dhartī bhāī ॥

कामु क्रोधु दुइ करहु बसोले गोडहु धरती भाई ॥

Let sexual desire and anger be your two shovels, to dig up the dirt of your farm, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਜਿਉ ਗੋਡਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਤੁਮ੍‍ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਮੇਟਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥

jiu gōḍhu tiu tum‍ sukh pāvhu kirtu na mēṭiā jāī ॥3॥

जिउ गोडहु तिउ तुम्‍ सुख पावहु किरतु न मेटिआ जाई ॥३॥

The more you dig, the more peace you shall find. Your past actions cannot be erased. ||3||

ਬਗੁਲੇ ਤੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੰਸੁਲਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੇ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥

bagulē tē phuni haṃsulā hōvai jē tū karahi daiālā ॥

बगुले ते फुनि हंसुला होवै जे तू करहि दइआला ॥

The crane is again transformed into a swan, if You so will, O Merciful Lord.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੯॥

praṇvati nānku dāsni dāsā daiā karahu daiālā ॥4॥1॥9॥

प्रणवति नानकु दासनि दासा दइआ करहु दइआला ॥४॥१॥९॥

Prays Nanak, the slave of Your slaves: O Merciful Lord, have mercy on me. ||4||1||9||
