ਪੁਛਨ ਗਲ ਈਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਈ॥

ਪੁਛਨ ਗਲ ਈਮਾਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਜ਼ੀ ਮੁਲਾਂ ਇਕਠੇ ਹੋਈ॥

puchhan gal īmān dī kāzī mulāṃ ikṭhē hōī॥

पुछन गल ईमान दी काज़ी मुलां इकठे होई॥

Qazi and maulvis got together and began discussing religion.

ਵਡਾ ਸਾਂਗ ਵਰਤਾਇਆ ਲਖ ਨ ਸਕੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੋਈ॥

vaḍā sāṅg vartāiā lakh na sakē kudrati kōī॥

वडा सांग वरताइआ लख न सके कुदरति कोई॥

A great fantasy has been created and no one could understood its mystery.

ਪੁਛਣ ਖੋਲ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਨੂੰ ਵਡਾ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਕੀ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨੋਈ॥

puchhaṇ khōl kitāb nūṃ vaḍā hindū kī muslamānōī॥

पुछण खोल किताब नूं वडा हिंदू की मुसलमानोई॥

They asked Baba Nanak to open and search in his book whether Hindu is great or the Muslim.

ਬਾਬਾ ਆਖੇ ਹਾਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਅਮਲਾਂ ਬਾਝੋ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਰੋਈ॥

bābā ākhē hāzīāṃ shubh amlāṃ bājhō dōvēṃ rōī॥

बाबा आखे हाज़ीआं शुभ अमलां बाझो दोवें रोई॥

Baba replied to the pilgrim hajis, that, without good deeds both will have to weep and wail.

ਹਿੰਦੂ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਦੋਇ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੈਣ ਨ ਢੋਈ॥

hindū muslamān dōi dargahi andar laiṇ na ḍhōī॥

हिंदू मुसलमान दोइ दरगहि अंदर लैण न ढोई॥

Only by being a Hindu or a Muslim one can not get accepted in the court of the Lord.

ਕਚਾ ਰੰਗ ਕੁਸੁੰਭ ਕਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਧੋਤੈ ਥਿਰ ਨ ਰਹੋਈ॥

kachā raṅg kusumbh kā pāṇī dhōtai thir na rahōī॥

कचा रंग कुसुंभ का पाणी धोतै थिर न रहोई॥

As the colour of safflower is impermanent and is washed away in water, likewise the colours of religiosity are also temporary.

ਕਰਨ ਬਖੀਲੀ ਆਪ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਮ ਰਹੀਮ ਕੁਥਾਇ ਖਲੋਈ॥

karan bakhīlī āp vic rām rahīm kuthāi khalōī॥

करन बखीली आप विच राम रहीम कुथाइ खलोई॥

(Followers of both the religions) In their expositions, denounce Ram and Rahim.

ਰਾਹ ਸ਼ੈਤਾਨੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਗੋਈ ॥੩੩॥

rāh shaitānī dunīā gōī ॥33॥

राह शैतानी दुनीआ गोई ॥३३॥

The whole of the world is following the ways of Satan.
