ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪੈ ਪਾਖਾਕ ਮੁਰੀਦੇ ਥੀਵਣਾ॥

ਪੈਰੀਂ ਪੈ ਪਾਖਾਕ ਮੁਰੀਦੇ ਥੀਵਣਾ॥

pairīṃ pai pākhāk murīdē thīvṇā॥

पैरीं पै पाखाक मुरीदे थीवणा॥

By becoming the dust of the feet the disciple is required to be near the feet of the the Guru.

ਗੁਰ ਮੂਰਤ ਮੁਸ਼ਤਾਕ ਮਰ ਮਰ ਜੀਵਣਾ॥

gur mūrat mushtāk mar mar jīvṇā॥

गुर मूरत मुशताक मर मर जीवणा॥

Becoming an avid suiter of the form (word) of the Guru and being dead to greed, infatuation and other relational propensities, he should remain alive in the world.

ਪਰਹਰ ਸਭੇ ਸਾਕ ਸੁ ਰੰਗ ਰੰਗੀਵਣਾ॥

parhar sabhē sāk su raṅg raṅgīvṇā॥

परहर सभे साक सु रंग रंगीवणा॥

Repudiating all worldly connections he must remain dyed in the colour of the Lord.

ਹੋਰ ਨ ਝਖਣ ਝਾਕ ਸਰਨ ਮਨ ਸੀਵਣਾ॥

hōr na jhakhaṇ jhāk saran man sīvṇā॥

होर न झखण झाक सरन मन सीवणा॥

Seeking no shelter elsewhere he should keep his mind absorbed in the shelterof God, the Guru.

ਪਿਰਮ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਪਾਕ ਅਮਿਅ ਰਸ ਪੀਵਣਾ॥

piram piālā pāk amia ras pīvṇā॥

पिरम पिआला पाक अमिअ रस पीवणा॥

Sacred is the cup of the love of the beloved; he should quaff that only.

ਮਸਕੀਨੀ ਅਉਤਾਕ ਅਸਥਿਰ ਥੀਵਣਾ॥

maskīnī autāk asathir thīvṇā॥

मसकीनी अउताक असथिर थीवणा॥

Making humility his abode he should get poised in it.

ਦਸ ਅਉਰਾਤ ਤਲਾਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਅਲੀਵਣਾ॥

das aurāt talāk sahji alīvṇā॥

दस अउरात तलाक सहजि अलीवणा॥

Divorcing the (tastes of ) ten organs i.e.not being caught in their dragnet, he should attain equipose.

ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਗੁਰਵਾਕ ਨ ਮਨ ਭਰਮੀਵਣਾ॥

sāvdhān gurvāk na man bharmīvṇā॥

सावधान गुरवाक न मन भरमीवणा॥

He must be fully conscious about the word of Guru and should not allow the mind to be entrapped in delusions.

ਸ਼ਬਦ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਹੁਸ਼ਨਾਕ ਪਾਰ ਪਰੀਵਣਾ ॥੧੯॥

shabad mūrti hushnāk pār parīvṇā ॥19॥

शबद मूरति हुशनाक पार परीवणा ॥१९॥

Absorption of consciousness in the Word makes him alert and this way one gets across the Word – ocean.
