ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ॥

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ॥

pārbrahmu pūran brahmi satigur āpē āpu upāiā॥

पारब्रहमु पूरन ब्रहमि सतिगुर आपे आपु उपाइआ॥

The true Guru has been created in the form of perfect Brahm by the transcendent Brahm. Guru is God and God is the Guru; two names are of the same supreme reality.

ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਇਕ ਦੁਇ ਨਾਵ ਧਰਾਇਆ॥

guru gōbindu gōvindu guru jōti ik dui nāv dharāiā॥

गुरु गोबिंदु गोविंदु गुरु जोति इक दुइ नाव धराइआ॥

The son for the father and the father for the son created wonder by receiving the wondrous Word .

ਪੁਤੁ ਪਿਅਹੁ ਪਿਉ ਪੁਤ ਤੇ ਵਿਸਮਾਦਹੁ ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ॥

putu piahu piu put tē vismādhu vismādu suṇāiā॥

पुतु पिअहु पिउ पुत ते विसमादहु विसमादु सुणाइआ॥

A wonderful beauty has been created in the action of tree becoming fruit and fruit the tree.

ਬਿਰਖਹੁ ਫਲੁ ਫਲ ਤੇ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਆਚਰਜਹੁ ਆਚਰਜੁ ਸੁਹਾਇਆ॥

birkhahu phalu phal tē birkhu ācrajhu ācraju suhāiā॥

बिरखहु फलु फल ते बिरखु आचरजहु आचरजु सुहाइआ॥

From the two banks of a river its true extent cannot be understood simply by saying that the one is far and the other near bank.

ਨਦੀ ਕਿਨਾਰੇ ਆਖੀਅਨਿ ਪੁਛੇ ਪਾਰਵਾਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ॥

nadī kinārē ākhīni puchhē pārvāru na pāiā॥

नदी किनारे आखीअनि पुछे पारवारु न पाइआ॥

Guru Arjan Dev and Guru Hargobind are in fact one and the same.

ਹੋਰਨਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖੀਐ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ॥

hōrni alkhu na lakhīai guru chēlē mili alkhu lakhāiā॥

होरनि अलखु न लखीऐ गुरु चेले मिलि अलखु लखाइआ॥

None else can perceive the imperceptible Lord but the disciple (Hargobind) having met the Guru (Arjan Dev) has visualised the imperceptible Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੨੪॥

hari gōvindu gurū guru bhāiā ॥24॥

हरि गोविंदु गुरू गुरु भाइआ ॥२४॥

Guru Hargobind is dear to the Lord who is the Guru of the Gurus.
