ਪਾਪੀ ਹੀਐ ਮੈ ਕਾਮੁ ਬਸਾਇ ॥

बसंतु महला ९ ॥

Basant, Ninth Mehl:

ਪਾਪੀ ਹੀਐ ਮੈ ਕਾਮੁ ਬਸਾਇ ॥

pāpī hīai mai kāmu basāi ॥

पापी हीऐ मै कामु बसाइ ॥

The heart of the sinner is filled with unfulfilled sexual desire.

ਮਨੁ ਚੰਚਲੁ ਯਾ ਤੇ ਗਹਿਓ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

manu chañclu yā tē gahiō na jāi ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

मनु चंचलु या ते गहिओ न जाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

He cannot control his fickle mind. ||1||Pause||

ਜੋਗੀ ਜੰਗਮ ਅਰੁ ਸੰਨਿਆਸ ॥

jōgī jaṅgam aru sanniās ॥

जोगी जंगम अरु संनिआस ॥

The Yogis, wandering ascetics and renunciates

ਸਭ ਹੀ ਪਰਿ ਡਾਰੀ ਇਹ ਫਾਸ ॥੧॥

sabh hī pari ḍārī ih phās ॥1॥

सभ ही परि डारी इह फास ॥१॥

- this net is cast over them all. ||1||

ਜਿਹਿ ਜਿਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਰਿ ॥

jihi jihi hari kō nāmu samāri ॥

जिहि जिहि हरि को नामु सम्‍ारि ॥

Those who contemplate the Name of the Lord

ਤੇ ਭਵ ਸਾਗਰ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੨॥

tē bhav sāgar utrē pāri ॥2॥

ते भव सागर उतरे पारि ॥२॥

Cross over the terrifying world-ocean. ||2||

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਾਇ ॥

jan nānak hari kī sarnāi ॥

जन नानक हरि की सरनाइ ॥

Servant Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord.

ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੩॥੨॥

dījai nāmu rahai gun gāi ॥3॥2॥

दीजै नामु रहै गुन गाइ ॥३॥२॥

Please bestow the blessing of Your Name, that he may continue to sing Your Glorious Praises. ||3||2||
