ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਕੋ ਸਤਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਸ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸੁਣਾਯਾ॥

ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਕੋ ਸਤਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਸ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸੁਣਾਯਾ॥

namsakār gurdēv kō satnāmu jis mantr suṇāyā॥

नमसकार गुरदेव को सतनामु जिस मंत्र सुणाया॥

I bow before the Guru (Guru Nanak Dev) who recited the satinam mantra(for the world).

ਭਵਜਲ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਕੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਮਾਂਹਿ ਸਮਾਯਾ॥

bhavjal vicchōṃ kaḍḍhkē mukti padārath māṃhi samāyā॥

भवजल विॱचों कॱढके मुकति पदारथ मांहि समाया॥

Getting (the creatures) across the world ocean He raptly merged them in liberation.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਭਉ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਸੰਸਾ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਜੋਗ ਮਿਟਾਯਾ॥

janam maran bhau kaṭṭiā saṃsā rōg vijōg miṭāyā॥

जनम मरन भउ कॱटिआ संसा रोग विजोग मिटाया॥

He destroyed the fear of transmigration and decimated the malady of doubt and separation.

ਸੰਸਾ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਹੈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਖ ਸਬਾਯਾ॥

saṃsā ih saṃsār hai janam maran vic dukh sabāyā॥

संसा इह संसार है जनम मरन विच दुख सबाया॥

The world is only illusion which carried with it much of birth, death and sufferings.

ਜਮਦੰਡ ਸਿਰੋਂ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਸਾਕਤ ਦੁਰਜਨ ਜਨਮ ਗਵਾਯਾ॥

jamdaṇḍ sirōṃ na utrai sākat durjan janam gavāyā॥

जमदंड सिरों न उतरै साकत दुरजन जनम गवाया॥

The fear of the rod of Yama is not dispelled and the sakts, the followers of the goddess, have lost their lives in vain.

ਚਰਨ ਗਹੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਕੇ ਸਤਿ ਸਬਦ ਦੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰਾਯਾ॥

charan gahē gurdēv kē sati sabad dē mukti karāyā॥

चरन गहे गुरदेव के सति सबद दे मुकति कराया॥

Those who have caught hold of the feet of the Guru have been liberated through the true Word.

ਭਾਇ ਭਗਤ ਗੁਰਪੁਰਬ ਕਰ ਨਾਮ ਦਾਨ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਯਾ॥

bhāi bhagat gurpurab kar nām dān ishnān driṛāyā॥

भाइ भगत गुरपुरब कर नाम दान इशनान द्रिड़ाया॥

Now being full of loving devotion they celebrate the gurprubs (anniversaries of the Gurus) and their acts of rememberance of God, charity and holy ablutions, inspire others also.

ਜੇਹਾ ਬੀਉ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲ ਪਾਯਾ ॥੧॥

jēhā bīu tēhā phal pāyā ॥1॥

जेहा बीउ तेहा फल पाया ॥१॥

As someone sows, so he reaps.
