ਨਦੀ ਨਾਵ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਮੇਲ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ॥

ਨਦੀ ਨਾਵ ਸੰਜੋਗ ਮੇਲ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ॥

nadī nāv sañjōg mēl milāiā॥

नदी नाव संजोग मेल मिलाइआ॥

As in a boat per-chance many persons unknown to each other meet, likewise the creatures in the world meet each other.

ਸੁਹਣੇ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਭੋਗ ਰਾਜ ਕਮਾਇਆ॥

suhṇē andri bhōg rāj kamāiā॥

सुहणे अंदरि भोग राज कमाइआ॥

The world is such as if ruling a kingdom and enjoying the pleasures in a dream.

ਕਦੇ ਹਰਖ ਕਦੇ ਸੋਗ ਤਰਵਰ ਛਾਇਆ॥

kadē harakh kadē sōg tarvar chhāiā॥

कदे हरख कदे सोग तरवर छाइआ॥

Here happiness and sufferings are like shade of the tree.

ਕਟੈ ਹਉਮੈਂ ਰੋਗ ਨ ਆਪਿ ਗਣਾਇਆ॥

kaṭai haumaiṃ rōg na āpi gaṇāiā॥

कटै हउमैं रोग न आपि गणाइआ॥

Here in fact he has decimated the malady of ego who has not made himself to be noticed.

ਘਰ ਹੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਜੋਗ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਪਾਇਆ॥

ghar hī andar jōg gurmukh pāiā॥

घर ही अंदर जोग गुरमुख पाइआ॥

Becoming gurmukh, individual even being at one's home attains union (with the Lord).

ਹੋਵਣ ਹਾਰ ਸੁ ਹੋਗ ਗੁਰ ਸਮਝਾਇਆ ॥੮॥

hōvaṇ hār su hōg gur samjhāiā ॥8॥

होवण हार सु होग गुर समझाइआ ॥८॥

The Guru has made him understand that destiny cannot be averted (hence one without being worried should go on doing one's works).
