माझ महला ५ घरु २ ॥
Maajh, Fifth Mehl, Second House:
ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਦਯੁ ਸਮਾਲੀਐ ॥
nit nit dayu samālīai ॥
नित नित दयु समालीऐ ॥
Continually, continuously, remember the Merciful Lord.
ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mūli na manhu visārīai ॥ rahāu ॥
मूलि न मनहु विसारीऐ ॥ रहाउ ॥
Never forget Him from your mind. ||Pause||
ਸੰਤਾ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
santā saṅgti pāīai ॥
संता संगति पाईऐ ॥
Join the Society of the Saints,
ਜਿਤੁ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਪੰਥਿ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ॥
jitu jam kai panthi na jāīai ॥
जितु जम कै पंथि न जाईऐ ॥
And you shall not have to go down the path of Death.
ਤੋਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੁਲਹਿ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਗਾਲਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tōsā hari kā nāmu lai tērē kulahi na lāgai gāli jīu ॥1॥
तोसा हरि का नामु लै तेरे कुलहि न लागै गालि जीउ ॥१॥
Take the Provisions of the Lord's Name with you, and no stain shall attach itself to your family. ||1||
ਜੋ ਸਿਮਰੰਦੇ ਸਾਂਈਐ ॥
jō simrandē sāṃīai ॥
जो सिमरंदे सांईऐ ॥
Those who meditate on the Master
ਨਰਕਿ ਨ ਸੇਈ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
narki na sēī pāīai ॥
नरकि न सेई पाईऐ ॥
Shall not be thrown down into hell.
ਤਤੀ ਵਾਉ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਆਇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
tatī vāu na lagaī jin mani vuṭhā āi jīu ॥2॥
तती वाउ न लगई जिन मनि वुठा आइ जीउ ॥२॥
Even the hot winds shall not touch them. The Lord has come to dwell within their minds. ||2||
ਸੇਈ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੋਹਣੇ ॥
sēī sundar sōhṇē ॥
सेई सुंदर सोहणे ॥
They alone are beautiful and attractive,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਿਨ ਬੈਹਣੇ ॥
sādhsaṅgi jin baihṇē ॥
साधसंगि जिन बैहणे ॥
Who abide in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਸੰਜਿਆ ਸੇਈ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਅਪਾਰ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
hari dhanu jinī sañjiā sēī gambhīr apār jīu ॥3॥
हरि धनु जिनी संजिआ सेई गंभीर अपार जीउ ॥३॥
Those who have gathered in the wealth of the Lord's Name-they alone are deep and thoughtful and vast. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਅਮਿਉ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਪੀਵੀਐ ॥
hari amiu rasāiṇu pīvīai ॥
हरि अमिउ रसाइणु पीवीऐ ॥
Drink in the Ambrosial Essence of the Name,
ਮੁਹਿ ਡਿਠੈ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਜੀਵੀਐ ॥
muhi ḍiṭhai jan kai jīvīai ॥
मुहि डिठै जन कै जीवीऐ ॥
And live by beholding the face of the Lord's servant.
ਕਾਰਜ ਸਭਿ ਸਵਾਰਿ ਲੈ ਨਿਤ ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਵ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥
kāraj sabhi savāri lai nit pūjhu gur kē pāv jīu ॥4॥
कारज सभि सवारि लै नित पूजहु गुर के पाव जीउ ॥४॥
Let all your affairs be resolved, by continually worshipping the Feet of the Guru. ||4||
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਆਪਣਾ ॥ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਜਾਪਣਾ ॥
jō hari kītā āpaṇā ॥ tinhi gusāī jāpaṇā ॥
जो हरि कीता आपणा ॥ तिनहि गुसाई जापणा ॥
He alone meditates on the Lord of the World, whom the Lord has made His Own.
ਸੋ ਸੂਰਾ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਸੋ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥
sō sūrā pardhānu sō masatki jis dai bhāgu jīu ॥5॥
सो सूरा परधानु सो मसतकि जिस दै भागु जीउ ॥५॥
He alone is a warrior, and he alone is the chosen one, upon whose forehead good destiny is recorded. ||5||
ਮਨ ਮੰਧੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਵਗਾਹੀਆ ॥
man mandhē prabhu avgāhīā ॥
मन मंधे प्रभु अवगाहीआ ॥
Within my mind, I meditate on God.
ਏਹਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗਣ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀਆ ॥
ēhi ras bhōgaṇ pātisāhīā ॥
एहि रस भोगण पातिसाहीआ ॥
For me, this is like the enjoyment of princely pleasures.
ਮੰਦਾ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਉਪਜਿਓ ਤਰੇ ਸਚੀ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਜੀਉ ॥੬॥
mandā mūli na upjiō tarē sachī kārai lāgi jīu ॥6॥
मंदा मूलि न उपजिओ तरे सची कारै लागि जीउ ॥६॥
Evil does not well up within me, since I am saved, and dedicated to truthful actions. ||6||
ਕਰਤਾ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਆ ॥
karatā manni vasāiā ॥
करता मंनि वसाइआ ॥
I have enshrined the Creator within my mind;
ਜਨਮੈ ਕਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
janmai kā phalu pāiā ॥
जनमै का फलु पाइआ ॥
I have obtained the fruits of life's rewards.
ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵੰਦਾ ਕੰਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਹੋਆ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੭॥
mani bhāvndā kantu hari tērā thiru hōā sōhāgu jīu ॥7॥
मनि भावंदा कंतु हरि तेरा थिरु होआ सोहागु जीउ ॥७॥
If your Husband Lord is pleasing to your mind, then your married life shall be eternal. ||7||
ਅਟਲ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
aṭal padārthu pāiā ॥
अटल पदारथु पाइआ ॥
I have obtained everlasting wealth;
ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਇਆ ॥
bhai bhañjan kī sarṇāiā ॥
भै भंजन की सरणाइआ ॥
I have found the Sanctuary of the Dispeller of fear.
ਲਾਇ ਅੰਚਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾਰਿਅਨੁ ਜਿਤਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਜੀਉ ॥੮॥੪॥੩੮॥
lāi añcli nānak tārinu jitā janmu apār jīu ॥8॥4॥38॥
लाइ अंचलि नानक तारिअनु जिता जनमु अपार जीउ ॥८॥४॥३८॥
Grasping hold of the hem of the Lord's robe, Nanak is saved. He has won the incomparable life. ||8||4||38||

ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਪੇ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
hari japi japē manu dhīrē ॥1॥ rahāu ॥
हरि जपि जपे मनु धीरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Chanting and meditating on the Lord, the mind is held steady. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਰਦੇਉ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਏ ਭੈ ਦੂਰੇ ॥੧॥
simri simri gurdēu miṭi gaē bhai dūrē ॥1॥
सिमरि सिमरि गुरदेउ मिटि गए भै दूरे ॥१॥
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Divine Guru, one's fears are erased and dispelled. ||1||
ਸਰਨਿ ਆਵੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਝੂਰੇ ॥੨॥
sarni āvai pārbraham kī tā phiri kāhē jhūrē ॥2॥
सरनि आवै पारब्रहम की ता फिरि काहे झूरे ॥२॥
Entering the Sanctuary of the Supreme Lord God, how could anyone feel grief any longer? ||2||
ਚਰਨ ਸੇਵ ਸੰਤ ਸਾਧ ਕੇ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੩॥
charan sēv sant sādh kē sagal manōrath pūrē ॥3॥
चरन सेव संत साध के सगल मनोरथ पूरे ॥३॥
Serving at the Feet of the Holy Saints, all desires are fulfilled. ||3||
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਏਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਪੂਰੇ ॥੪॥
ghaṭi ghaṭi ēku varatdā jali thali mahīli pūrē ॥4॥
घटि घटि एकु वरतदा जलि थलि महीअलि पूरे ॥४॥
In each and every heart, the One Lord is pervading. He is totally permeating the water, the land, and the sky. ||4||
ਪਾਪ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਧੂਰੇ ॥੫॥
pāp bināsnu sēviā pavitr santan kī dhūrē ॥5॥
पाप बिनासनु सेविआ पवित्र संतन की धूरे ॥५॥
I serve the Destroyer of sin, and I am sanctified by the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||5||
ਸਭ ਛਡਾਈ ਖਸਮਿ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਭਈ ਠਰੂਰੇ ॥੬॥
sabh chhaḍāī khasmi āpi hari japi bhaī ṭharūrē ॥6॥
सभ छडाई खसमि आपि हरि जपि भई ठरूरे ॥६॥
My Lord and Master Himself has saved me completely; I am comforted by meditating on the Lord. ||6||
ਕਰਤੈ ਕੀਆ ਤਪਾਵਸੋ ਦੁਸਟ ਮੁਏ ਹੋਇ ਮੂਰੇ ॥੭॥
kartai kīā tapāvsō dusaṭ muē hōi mūrē ॥7॥
करतै कीआ तपावसो दुसट मुए होइ मूरे ॥७॥
The Creator has passed judgement, and the evil-doers have been silenced and killed. ||7||
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥੮॥੫॥੩੯॥੧॥੩੨॥੧॥੫॥੩੯॥
nānak ratā sachi nāi hari vēkhai sadā hajūrē ॥8॥5॥39॥1॥32॥1॥5॥39॥
नानक रता सचि नाइ हरि वेखै सदा हजूरे ॥८॥५॥३९॥१॥३२॥१॥५॥३९॥
Nanak is attuned to the True Name; he beholds the Presence of the Ever-present Lord. ||8||5||39||1||32||1||5||39||

ਸਭ ਛਡਾਈ ਖਸਮਿ ???ਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਭਈ ਠਰੂਰੇ ॥੬॥
sabh chhaḍāī khasmi āpi hari japi bhaī ṭharūrē ॥6॥
सभ छडाई खसमि आपि हरि जपि भई ठरूरे ॥६॥
My Lord and Master Himself has saved me completely; I am comforted by meditating on the Lord. ||6||
ਕਰਤੈ ਕੀਆ ਤਪਾਵਸੋ ਦੁਸਟ ਮੁਏ ਹੋਇ ਮੂਰੇ ॥੭॥
kartai kīā tapāvsō dusaṭ muē hōi mūrē ॥7॥
करतै कीआ तपावसो दुसट मुए होइ मूरे ॥७॥
The Creator has passed judgement, and the evil-doers have been silenced and killed. ||7||

नानक रता सचि नाइ हरि वेखै सदा हजूरे ॥८॥५॥३९॥१॥३२॥१॥५॥३९॥
Nanak is attuned to the True Name; he beholds the Presence of the Ever-present Lord. ||8||5||39||1||32||1||5||39||
