ਨਿਕਸੁ ਰੇ ਪੰਖੀ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਂਖ ॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਨਿਕਸੁ ਰੇ ਪੰਖੀ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਂਖ ॥

niksu rē paṅkhī simri hari pāṅkh ॥

निकसु रे पंखी सिमरि हरि पांख ॥

Come out, O soul-bird, and let the meditative remembrance of the Lord be your wings.

ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਰਣਿ ਗਹੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਰਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ਹੀਅਰੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਖੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

mili sādhū sarṇi gahu pūran rām ratnu hīarē saṅgi rākhu ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

मिलि साधू सरणि गहु पूरन राम रतनु हीअरे संगि राखु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Meet the Holy Saint, take to His Sanctuary, and keep the perfect jewel of the Lord enshrined in your heart. ||1||Pause||

ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕੀ ਕੂਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਰਸ ਪੰਕਜ ਅਤਿ ਤੀਖ੍ਹਣ ਮੋਹ ਕੀ ਫਾਸ ॥

bhram kī kūī trisnā ras paṅkaj ati tīkhhaṇ mōh kī phās ॥

भ्रम की कूई त्रिसना रस पंकज अति तीख्हण मोह की फास ॥

Superstition is the well, thirst for pleasure is the mud, and emotional attachment is the noose, so tight around your neck.

ਕਾਟਨਹਾਰ ਜਗਤ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕਰਹੁ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੧॥

kāṭnahār jagat gur gōbid charan kamal tā kē karahu nivās ॥1॥

काटनहार जगत गुर गोबिद चरन कमल ता के करहु निवास ॥१॥

The only one who can cut this is the Guru of the World, the Lord of the Universe. So let yourself dwell at His Lotus Feet. ||1||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥

kari kirpā gōbind prabh prītam dīnā nāth sunhu ardāsi ॥

करि किरपा गोबिंद प्रभ प्रीतम दीना नाथ सुनहु अरदासि ॥

Bestow Your Mercy, O Lord of the Universe, O God, My Beloved, Master of the meek - please, listen to my prayer.

ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥੨॥੩॥੧੨੦॥

karu gahi lēhu nānak kē suāmī jīu piṇḍu sabhu tumrī rāsi ॥2॥3॥120॥

करु गहि लेहु नानक के सुआमी जीउ पिंडु सभु तुमरी रासि ॥२॥३॥१२०॥

Take my hand, O Lord and Master of Nanak; my body and soul all belong to You. ||2||3||120||
