ਮੋਹ ਮਲਨ ਨੀਦ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਕੀ ਕਉਨੁ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਭਇਓ ਰੀ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਮੋਹ ਮਲਨ ਨੀਦ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਕੀ ਕਉਨੁ ਅਨੁਗ੍ਰਹੁ ਭਇਓ ਰੀ ॥

mōh malan nīd tē chhuṭkī kaunu anugrhu bhaiō rī ॥

मोह मलन नीद ते छुटकी कउनु अनुग्रहु भइओ री ॥

You have avoided the slumber of attachment and impurity - by whose favor has this happened?

ਮਹਾ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਲਸੁ ਕਹਾ ਗਇਓ ਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

mahā mōhnī tudhu na viāpai tērā ālsu kahā gaiō rī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

महा मोहनी तुधु न विआपै तेरा आलसु कहा गइओ री ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

The great enticer does not affect you. Where has your laziness gone? ||1||Pause||

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ਗਾਖਰੋ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਕਉਨ ਛੁਟਿਓ ਰੀ ॥

kāmu krōdhu ahṅkāru gākharō sañjmi kaun chhuṭiō rī ॥

कामु क्रोधु अहंकारु गाखरो संजमि कउन छुटिओ री ॥

How have you escaped from the treachery of sexual desire, anger and egotism?

ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਸੁਰ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਨੀਆ ਸਗਲੋ ਭਵਨੁ ਲੁਟਿਓ ਰੀ ॥੧॥

suri nar dēv asur trai gunīā saglō bhavnu luṭiō rī ॥1॥

सुरि नर देव असुर त्रै गुनीआ सगलो भवनु लुटिओ री ॥१॥

The holy beings, angels and demons of the three qualities, and all the worlds have been plundered. ||1||

ਦਾਵਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣ ਜਾਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਹਰਿਆ ਬੂਟੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਰੀ ॥

dāvā agni bahutu triṇ jālē kōī hariā būṭu rahiō rī ॥

दावा अगनि बहुतु त्रिण जाले कोई हरिआ बूटु रहिओ री ॥

The forest fire has burnt down so much of the grass; how rare are the plants which have remained green.

ਐਸੋ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਵਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜਾਤ ਨ ਕਹਿਓ ਰੀ ॥੨॥

aisō samrathu varni na sākau tā kī upmā jāt na kahiō rī ॥2॥

ऐसो समरथु वरनि न साकउ ता की उपमा जात न कहिओ री ॥२॥

He is so All-powerful, that I cannot even describe Him; no one can chant His Praises. ||2||

ਕਾਜਰ ਕੋਠ ਮਹਿ ਭਈ ਨ ਕਾਰੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਰਨੁ ਬਨਿਓ ਰੀ ॥

kājar kōṭh mahi bhaī na kārī nirmal barnu baniō rī ॥

काजर कोठ महि भई न कारी निरमल बरनु बनिओ री ॥

In the store-room of the lamp-black, I did not turn black; my color remained immaculate and pure.

ਮਹਾ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਿਓ ਅਚਰਜ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਰੀ ॥੩॥

mahā mantru gur hirdai basiō acraj nāmu suniō rī ॥3॥

महा मंत्रु गुर हिरदै बसिओ अचरज नामु सुनिओ री ॥३॥

The Guru has implanted the Maha Mantra, the Great Mantra, within my heart, and I have heard the wondrous Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਦਰਿ ਅਵਲੋਕਨ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਚਰਣਿ ਲਗਾਈ ॥

kari kirpā prabh nadri avlōkan apunai charṇi lagāī ॥

करि किरपा प्रभ नदरि अवलोकन अपुनै चरणि लगाई ॥

Showing His Mercy, God has looked upon me with favor, and He has attached me to His feet.

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੫੧॥

prēm bhagti nānak sukhu pāiā sādhū saṅgi samāī ॥4॥12॥51॥

प्रेम भगति नानक सुखु पाइआ साधू संगि समाई ॥४॥१२॥५१॥

Through loving devotional worship, O Nanak, I have obtained peace; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I am absorbed into the Lord. ||4||12||51||
