ਮਿਲਉ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਧਾਰਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥

Chhant:

ਮਿਲਉ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਉਧਾਰਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥

milau santan kai saṅgi mōhi udhāri lēhu ॥

मिलउ संतन कै संगि मोहि उधारि लेहु ॥

Let me join the Society of the Saints - save me, Lord!

ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰਉ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਹੁ ॥

binau karau kar jōṛi hari hari nāmu dēhu ॥

बिनउ करउ कर जोड़ि हरि हरि नामु देहु ॥

With my palms pressed together, I offer my prayer: give me Your Name, O Lord, Har, Har.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਾਗਉ ਚਰਣ ਲਾਗਉ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਉ ਤੁਮ੍‍ ਦਇਆ ॥

hari nāmu māgau charaṇ lāgau mānu tiāgau tum‍ daiā ॥

हरि नामु मागउ चरण लागउ मानु तिआगउ तुम्‍ दइआ ॥

I beg for the Lord's Name, and fall at His feet; I renounce my self-conceit, by Your kindness.

ਕਤਹੂੰ ਨ ਧਾਵਉ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਾਵਉ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥

kathūṃ na dhāvau sarṇi pāvau karuṇā mai prabh kari maiā ॥

कतहूं न धावउ सरणि पावउ करुणा मै प्रभ करि मइआ ॥

I shall not wander anywhere else, but take to Your Sanctuary. O God, embodiment of mercy, have mercy on me.

ਸਮਰਥ ਅਗਥ ਅਪਾਰ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੁਣਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਿਨਉ ਏਹੁ ॥

samrath agath apār nirmal suṇhu suāmī binau ēhu ॥

समरथ अगथ अपार निरमल सुणहु सुआमी बिनउ एहु ॥

O all-powerful, indescribable, infinite and immaculate Lord Master, listen to this, my prayer.

ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਨੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਲੇਹੁ ॥੧॥

kar jōṛi nānak dānu māgai janam maraṇ nivāri lēhu ॥1॥

कर जोड़ि नानक दानु मागै जनम मरण निवारि लेहु ॥१॥

With palms pressed together, Nanak begs for this blessing: O Lord, let my cycle of birth and death come to an end. ||1||

ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਮਤਿਹੀਨੁ ਨਿਰਗੁਨੁ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਨੀਚੁ ॥

aprādhī matihīnu nirgunu anāthu nīchhu ॥

अपराधी मतिहीनु निरगुनु अनाथु नीचु ॥

I am a sinner, devoid of wisdom, worthless, destitute and vile.

ਸਠ ਕਠੋਰੁ ਕੁਲਹੀਨੁ ਬਿਆਪਤ ਮੋਹ ਕੀਚੁ ॥

saṭh kaṭhōru kulhīnu biāpat mōh kīchu ॥

सठ कठोरु कुलहीनु बिआपत मोह कीचु ॥

I am deceitful, hard-hearted, lowly and entangled in the mud of emotional attachment.

ਮਲ ਭਰਮ ਕਰਮ ਅਹੰ ਮਮਤਾ ਮਰਣੁ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥

mal bharam karam ahaṃ mamtā marṇu chīti na āvaē ॥

मल भरम करम अहं ममता मरणु चीति न आवए ॥

I am stuck in the filth of doubt and egotistical actions, and I try not to think of death.

ਬਨਿਤਾ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਅਨੰਦ ਮਾਇਆ ਅਗਿਆਨਤਾ ਲਪਟਾਵਏ ॥

banitā binōd anand māiā agiāntā lapṭāvaē ॥

बनिता बिनोद अनंद माइआ अगिआनता लपटावए ॥

In ignorance, I cling to the pleasures of woman and the joys of Maya.

ਖਿਸੈ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਬਧੈ ਜਰੂਆ ਦਿਨ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੀਚੁ ॥

khisai jōbnu badhai jarūā din nihārē saṅgi mīchu ॥

खिसै जोबनु बधै जरूआ दिन निहारे संगि मीचु ॥

My youth is wasting away, old age is approaching, and Death, my companion, is counting my days.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਰਾਖੁ ਨੀਚੁ ॥੨॥

binvanti nānak ās tērī sarṇi sādhū rākhu nīchhu ॥2॥

बिनवंति नानक आस तेरी सरणि साधू राखु नीचु ॥२॥

Prays Nanak, my hope is in You, Lord; please preserve me, the lowly one, in the Sanctuary of the Holy. ||2||

ਭਰਮੇ ਜਨਮ ਅਨੇਕ ਸੰਕਟ ਮਹਾ ਜੋਨ ॥

bharmē janam anēk saṅkaṭ mahā jōn ॥

भरमे जनम अनेक संकट महा जोन ॥

I have wandered through countless incarnations, suffering terrible pain in these lives.

ਲਪਟਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਤਿਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੀਠੇ ਭੋਗ ਸੋਨ ॥

lapṭi rahiō tih saṅgi mīṭhē bhōg sōn ॥

लपटि रहिओ तिह संगि मीठे भोग सोन ॥

I am entangled in sweet pleasures and gold.

ਭ੍ਰਮਤ ਭਾਰ ਅਗਨਤ ਆਇਓ ਬਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸਹ ਧਾਇਓ ॥

bhramat bhār agnat āiō bahu pradēsah dhāiō ॥

भ्रमत भार अगनत आइओ बहु प्रदेसह धाइओ ॥

After wandering around with such great loads of sin, I have come, after wandering through so many foreign lands.

ਅਬ ਓਟ ਧਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇਓ ॥

ab ōṭ dhārī prabh murārī sarab sukh hari nāiō ॥

अब ओट धारी प्रभ मुरारी सरब सुख हरि नाइओ ॥

Now, I have taken the protection of God, and I have found total peace in the Name of the Lord.

ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੁਝ ਤੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਆ ਹੋਨ ॥

rākhnahārē prabh piārē mujh tē kachhū na hōā hōn ॥

राखनहारे प्रभ पिआरे मुझ ते कछू न होआ होन ॥

God, my Beloved, is my protector; nothing was done, or will ever be done, by myself alone.

ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਨਾਨਕ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਤਰੈ ਭਉਨ ॥੩॥

sūkh sahaj ānand nānak kripā tērī tarai bhaun ॥3॥

सूख सहज आनंद नानक क्रिपा तेरी तरै भउन ॥३॥

I have found peace, poise and bliss, O Nanak; by Your mercy, I swim across the world-ocean. ||3||

ਨਾਮ ਧਾਰੀਕ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਭਗਤਹ ਸੰਸਾ ਕਉਨ ॥

nām dhārīk udhārē bhagtah saṃsā kaun ॥

नाम धारीक उधारे भगतह संसा कउन ॥

You saved those who only pretended to believe, so what doubts should Your true devotees have?

ਜੇਨ ਕੇਨ ਪਰਕਾਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ॥

jēn kēn parkārē hari hari jasu sunhu sravan ॥

जेन केन परकारे हरि हरि जसु सुनहु स्रवन ॥

By every means possible, listen to the Praises of the Lord with your ears.

ਸੁਨਿ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਬਾਨੀ ਪੁਰਖ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ਪਾਵਹੇ ॥

suni sravan bānī purakh giānī mani nidhānā pāvahē ॥

सुनि स्रवन बानी पुरख गिआनी मनि निधाना पावहे ॥

Listen with your ears to the Word of the Lord's Bani, the hymns of spiritual wisdom; thus you shall obtain the treasure in your mind.

ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੇ ॥

hari raṅgi rātē prabh bidhātē rām kē guṇ gāvahē ॥

हरि रंगि राते प्रभ बिधाते राम के गुण गावहे ॥

Attuned to the Love of the Lord God, the Architect of Destiny, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਬਸੁਧ ਕਾਗਦ ਬਨਰਾਜ ਕਲਮਾ ਲਿਖਣ ਕਉ ਜੇ ਹੋਇ ਪਵਨ ॥

basudh kāgad banrāj kalmā likhaṇ kau jē hōi pavan ॥

बसुध कागद बनराज कलमा लिखण कउ जे होइ पवन ॥

The earth is the paper, the forest is the pen and the wind is the writer,

ਬੇਅੰਤ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਰਣ ਸਰਨ ॥੪॥੫॥੮॥

bēant antu na jāi pāiā gahī nānak charaṇ saran ॥4॥5॥8॥

बेअंत अंतु न जाइ पाइआ गही नानक चरण सरन ॥४॥५॥८॥

But still, the end of the endless Lord cannot be found. O Nanak, I have taken to the Sanctuary of His lotus feet. ||4||5||8||
