ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਜੀਉ ਕਿਉ ਦੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤੇ ॥

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਭਇਆ ਜੀਉ ਕਿਉ ਦੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤੇ ॥

mērai mani bairāgu bhaiā jīu kiu dēkhā prabh dātē ॥

मेरै मनि बैरागु भइआ जीउ किउ देखा प्रभ दाते ॥

My mind has become sad and depressed; how can I see God, the Great Giver?

ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਗੁਰ ਪੁਰਖ ਬਿਧਾਤੇ ॥

mērē mīt sakhā hari jīu gur purakh bidhātē ॥

मेरे मीत सखा हरि जीउ गुर पुरख बिधाते ॥

My Friend and Companion is the Dear Lord, the Guru, the Architect of Destiny.

ਪੁਰਖੋ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਸ੍ਰੀਧਰੁ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲਹ ਤੁਝੈ ਉਡੀਣੀਆ ॥

purkhō bidhātā ēku srīdhru kiu milah tujhai uḍīṇīā ॥

पुरखो बिधाता एकु स्रीधरु किउ मिलह तुझै उडीणीआ ॥

The One Lord, the Architect of Destiny, is the Master of the Goddess of Wealth; how can I, in my sadness, meet You?

ਕਰ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੀਸੁ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਦਰਸ ਨਿਮਾਣੀਆ ॥

kar karahi sēvā sīsu charṇī mani ās daras nimāṇīā ॥

कर करहि सेवा सीसु चरणी मनि आस दरस निमाणीआ ॥

My hands serve You, and my head is at Your Feet. My mind, dishonored, yearns for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.

ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਨ ਘੜੀ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਪਲੁ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੇ ॥

sāsi sāsi na ghaṛī visrai palu mūrtu dinu rātē ॥

सासि सासि न घड़ी विसरै पलु मूरतु दिनु राते ॥

With each and every breath, I think of You, day and night; I do not forget You, for an instant, even for a moment.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਰਿੰਗ ਜਿਉ ਪਿਆਸੇ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਾਤੇ ॥੧॥

nānak sāriṅg jiu piāsē kiu milīai prabh dātē ॥1॥

नानक सारिंग जिउ पिआसे किउ मिलीऐ प्रभ दाते ॥१॥

O Nanak, I am thirsty, like the rainbird; how can I meet God, the Great Giver? ||1||

ਇਕ ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰਉ ਜੀਉ ਸੁਣਿ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

ik binau karau jīu suṇi kant piārē ॥

इक बिनउ करउ जीउ सुणि कंत पिआरे ॥

I offer this one prayer - please listen, O my Beloved Husband Lord.

ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੀਆ ਜੀਉ ਦੇਖਿ ਚਲਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥

mērā manu tanu mōhi līā jīu dēkhi chalat tumārē ॥

मेरा मनु तनु मोहि लीआ जीउ देखि चलत तुमारे ॥

My mind and body are enticed, beholding Your wondrous play.

ਚਲਤਾ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਉਦਾਸ ਧਨ ਕਿਉ ਧੀਰਏ ॥

chaltā tumārē dēkhi mōhī udās dhan kiu dhīraē ॥

चलता तुमारे देखि मोही उदास धन किउ धीरए ॥

Beholding Your wondrous play, I am enticed; but how can the sad, forlorn bride find contentment?

ਗੁਣਵੰਤ ਨਾਹ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਬਾਲਾ ਸਰਬ ਗੁਣ ਭਰਪੂਰਏ ॥

guṇvant nāh daiālu bālā sarab guṇ bharpūraē ॥

गुणवंत नाह दइआलु बाला सरब गुण भरपूरए ॥

My Lord is Meritorious, Merciful and Eternally Young; He is overflowing with all excellences.

ਪਿਰ ਦੋਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁਖਹ ਦਾਤੇ ਹਉ ਵਿਛੁੜੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਰੇ ॥

pir dōsu nāhī sukhah dātē hau vichhuṛī buriārē ॥

पिर दोसु नाही सुखह दाते हउ विछुड़ी बुरिआरे ॥

The fault is not with my Husband Lord, the Giver of peace; I am separated from Him by my own mistakes.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਵਹੁ ਨਾਹ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੨॥

binvanti nānak daiā dhārhu ghari āvhu nāh piārē ॥2॥

बिनवंति नानक दइआ धारहु घरि आवहु नाह पिआरे ॥२॥

Prays Nanak, please be merciful to me, and return home, O my Beloved Husband Lord. ||2||

ਹਉ ਮਨੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਅਰਪੀ ਸਭਿ ਦੇਸਾ ॥

hau manu arpī sabhu tanu arpī arpī sabhi dēsā ॥

हउ मनु अरपी सभु तनु अरपी अरपी सभि देसा ॥

I surrender my mind, I surrender my whole body; I surrender all my lands.

ਹਉ ਸਿਰੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੀਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੇਇ ਸਦੇਸਾ ॥

hau siru arpī tisu mīt piārē jō prabh dēi sadēsā ॥

हउ सिरु अरपी तिसु मीत पिआरे जो प्रभ देइ सदेसा ॥

I surrender my head to that beloved friend, who brings me news of God.

ਅਰਪਿਆ ਤ ਸੀਸੁ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥

arpiā ta sīsu suthāni gur pahi saṅgi prabhū dikhāiā ॥

अरपिआ त सीसु सुथानि गुर पहि संगि प्रभू दिखाइआ ॥

I have offered my head to the Guru, the most exalted; He has shown me that God is with me.

ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਮਨਹੁ ਚਿੰਦਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

khin māhi saglā dūkhu miṭiā manhu chindiā pāiā ॥

खिन माहि सगला दूखु मिटिआ मनहु चिंदिआ पाइआ ॥

In an instant, all suffering is removed. I have obtained all my mind's desires.

ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਕਰੈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਗਲ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ॥

dinu raiṇi ralīā karai kāmṇi miṭē sagal andēsā ॥

दिनु रैणि रलीआ करै कामणि मिटे सगल अंदेसा ॥

Day and night, the soul-bride makes merry; all her anxieties are erased.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕੰਤੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਲੋੜਤੇ ਹਮ ਜੈਸਾ ॥੩॥

binvanti nānku kantu miliā lōṛtē ham jaisā ॥3॥

बिनवंति नानकु कंतु मिलिआ लोड़ते हम जैसा ॥३॥

Prays Nanak, I have met the Husband Lord of my longing. ||3||

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਜੀਉ ਵਜੀ ਵਾਧਾਈ ॥

mērai mani andu bhaiā jīu vajī vādhāī ॥

मेरै मनि अनदु भइआ जीउ वजी वाधाई ॥

My mind is filled with bliss, and congratulations are pouring in.

ਘਰਿ ਲਾਲੁ ਆਇਆ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸਭ ਤਿਖਾ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥

ghari lālu āiā piārā sabh tikhā bujhāī ॥

घरि लालु आइआ पिआरा सभ तिखा बुझाई ॥

My Darling Beloved has come home to me, and all my desires have been satisfied.

ਮਿਲਿਆ ਤ ਲਾਲੁ ਗੁਪਾਲੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਖੀ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥

miliā ta lālu gupālu ṭhākuru sakhī maṅglu gāiā ॥

मिलिआ त लालु गुपालु ठाकुरु सखी मंगलु गाइआ ॥

I have met my Sweet Lord and Master of the Universe, and my companions sing the songs of joy.

ਸਭ ਮੀਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਹਰਖੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਦੂਤ ਥਾਉ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥

sabh mīt bandhap harkhu upjiā dūt thāu gavāiā ॥

सभ मीत बंधप हरखु उपजिआ दूत थाउ गवाइआ ॥

All my friends and relatives are happy, and all traces of my enemies have been removed.

ਅਨਹਤ ਵਾਜੇ ਵਜਹਿ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਪਿਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੇਜ ਵਿਛਾਈ ॥

anhat vājē vajhi ghar mahi pir saṅgi sēj vichhāī ॥

अनहत वाजे वजहि घर महि पिर संगि सेज विछाई ॥

The unstruck melody vibrates in my home, and the bed has been made up for my Beloved.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਰਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕੰਤੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥

binvanti nānku sahji rahai hari miliā kantu sukhdāī ॥4॥1॥

बिनवंति नानकु सहजि रहै हरि मिलिआ कंतु सुखदाई ॥४॥१॥

Prays Nanak, I am in celestial bliss. I have obtained the Lord, the Giver of peace, as my Husband. ||4||1||
