ਮੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਾਝ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

गउड़ी माझ महला ४ ॥

Gauree Maajh, Fourth Mehl:

ਮੇਰਾ ਬਿਰਹੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਜੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

mērā birhī nāmu milai tā jīvā jīu ॥

मेरा बिरही नामु मिलै ता जीवा जीउ ॥

If I receive my Love, the Naam, then I live.

ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

man andri ammritu gurmati hari līvā jīu ॥

मन अंदरि अंम्रितु गुरमति हरि लीवा जीउ ॥

In the temple of the mind, is the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord; through the Guru's Teachings, we drink it in.

ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਪੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥

manu hari raṅgi ratṛā hari rasu sadā pīvā jīu ॥

मनु हरि रंगि रतड़ा हरि रसु सदा पीवा जीउ ॥

My mind is drenched with the Love of the Lord. I continually drink in the sublime essence of the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਅੜਾ ਮਨਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

hari pāiaṛā mani jīvā jīu ॥1॥

हरि पाइअड़ा मनि जीवा जीउ ॥१॥

I have found the Lord within my mind, and so I live. ||1||

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਲਗਾ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥

mērai mani tani prēmu lagā hari bāṇu jīu ॥

मेरै मनि तनि प्रेमु लगा हरि बाणु जीउ ॥

The arrow of the Lord's Love has pierced by mind and body.

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਿਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥

mērā prītmu mitru hari purkhu sujāṇu jīu ॥

मेरा प्रीतमु मित्रु हरि पुरखु सुजाणु जीउ ॥

The Lord, the Primal Being, is All-knowing; He is my Beloved and my Best Friend.

ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥

guru mēlē sant hari sughṛu sujāṇu jīu ॥

गुरु मेले संत हरि सुघड़ु सुजाणु जीउ ॥

The Saintly Guru has united me with the All-knowing and All-seeing Lord.

ਹਉ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

hau nām viṭhu kurbāṇu jīu ॥2॥

हउ नाम विटहु कुरबाणु जीउ ॥२॥

I am a sacrifice to the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਤੁ ਦਸਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

hau hari hari sajṇu hari mītu dasāī jīu ॥

हउ हरि हरि सजणु हरि मीतु दसाई जीउ ॥

I seek my Lord, Har, Har, my Intimate, my Best Friend.

ਹਰਿ ਦਸਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜੀ ਹਰਿ ਖੋਜੁ ਪਵਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

hari dashu santhu jī hari khōju pavāī jīu ॥

हरि दसहु संतहु जी हरि खोजु पवाई जीउ ॥

Show me the way to the Lord, Dear Saints; I am searching all over for Him.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਠੜਾ ਦਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

satiguru tuṭhṛā dasē hari pāī jīu ॥

सतिगुरु तुठड़ा दसे हरि पाई जीउ ॥

The Kind and Compassionate True Guru has shown me the Way, and I have found the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

hari nāmē nāmi samāī jīu ॥3॥

हरि नामे नामि समाई जीउ ॥३॥

Through the Name of the Lord, I am absorbed in the Naam. ||3||

ਮੈ ਵੇਦਨ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਲਗਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

mai vēdan prēmu hari birhu lagāī jīu ॥

मै वेदन प्रेमु हरि बिरहु लगाई जीउ ॥

I am consumed with the pain of separation from the Love of the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਸਰਧਾ ਪੂਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

gur sardhā pūri ammritu mukhi pāī jīu ॥

गुर सरधा पूरि अंम्रितु मुखि पाई जीउ ॥

The Guru has fulfilled my desire, and I have received the Ambrosial Nectar in my mouth.

ਹਰਿ ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

hari hōhu daiālu hari nāmu dhiāī jīu ॥

हरि होहु दइआलु हरि नामु धिआई जीउ ॥

The Lord has become merciful, and now I meditate on the Name of the Lord.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੬॥੨੦॥੧੮॥੩੨॥੭੦॥

jan nānak hari rasu pāī jīu ॥4॥6॥20॥18॥32॥70॥

जन नानक हरि रसु पाई जीउ ॥४॥६॥२०॥१८॥३२॥७०॥

Servant Nanak has obtained the sublime essence of the Lord. ||4||6||20||18||32||70||
