ਮੇਲਾ ਸੁਣ ਸ਼ਿਵਰਾਤ ਦਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਅਚਲ ਵਟਾਲੇ ਆਈ॥

ਮੇਲਾ ਸੁਣ ਸ਼ਿਵਰਾਤ ਦਾ ਬਾਬਾ ਅਚਲ ਵਟਾਲੇ ਆਈ॥

mēlā suṇ shivrāt dā bābā achal vaṭālē āī॥

मेला सुण शिवरात दा बाबा अचल वटाले आई॥

Hearing about the Sivratri fair, Baba (Nanak) came to Achal Batala.

ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਵੇਖਣ ਕਾਰਨੇ ਸਗਲੀ ਉਲਟ ਪਈ ਲੋਕਾਈ॥

darshan vēkhaṇ kārnē saglī ulaṭ paī lōkāī॥

दरशन वेखण कारने सगली उलट पई लोकाई॥

To have his glimpse the whole humanity swarmed the place.

ਲਗੀ ਬਰਸਨ ਲਛਮੀ ਰਿਧ ਸਿਧ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਸਵਾਈ॥

lagī barsan lachhmī ridh sidh nau nidhi savāī॥

लगी बरसन लछमी रिध सिध नउ निधि सवाई॥

More than riddhis and siddhis, the money started pouring in like rain.

ਜੋਗੀ ਵੇਖ ਚਲਿਤ੍ਰ ਨੋਂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਰਿਸ਼ਕ ਘਨੇਰੀ ਖਾਈ॥

jōgī vēkh chalitr nōṃ man vic rishak ghanērī khāī॥

जोगी वेख चलित्र नों मन विच रिशक घनेरी खाई॥

Seeing this miracle, the yogis’ anger was aroused.

ਭਗਤੀਆਂ ਪਾਈ ਭਗਤ ਆਨ ਲੋਟਾ ਜੋਗੀ ਲਇਆ ਛਪਾਈ॥

bhagtīāṃ pāī bhagat ān lōṭā jōgī laiā chhapāī॥

भगतीआं पाई भगत आन लोटा जोगी लइआ छपाई॥

When some of the devotees paid obeisance (before Guru Nanak), the yogis’ ire deepened and they hid their metal pot.

ਭਗਤੀਆਂ ਗਈ ਭਗਤ ਬੂਲ ਲੋਟੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਰਤ ਭੁਲਾਈ॥

bhagtīāṃ gaī bhagat būl lōṭē andar surat bhulāī॥

भगतीआं गई भगत बूल लोटे अंदर सुरत भुलाई॥

The devotees having lost their pot forgot their devotion because their attention now was in the pot.

ਬਾਬਾ ਜਾਣੀ ਜਾਣ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਢਿਆ ਲੋਟਾ ਜਹਾਂ ਲੁਕਾਈ॥

bābā jāṇī jāṇ purakh kaḍhiā lōṭā jahāṃ lukāī॥

बाबा जाणी जाण पुरख कढिआ लोटा जहां लुकाई॥

The omniscient Baba discovered (and handed over) the pot (to devotees).

ਵੇਖ ਚਲਿਤ੍ਰ ਜੋਗੀ ਖੁਣਸਾਈ ॥੩੯॥

वेख चलित्र जोगी खुणसाई ॥३९॥

Witnessing this the yogis were further enraged
