ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik-ōṅkār satigur prasādi ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤੁ ਬਨਿਤਾ ॥

māt pitā bhāī sutu banitā ॥

मात पिता भाई सुतु बनिता ॥

Mother, father, siblings, children and spouse

ਚੂਗਹਿ ਚੋਗ ਅਨੰਦ ਸਿਉ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥

chūghi chōg anand siu jugtā ॥

चूगहि चोग अनंद सिउ जुगता ॥

Involved with them, people eat the food of bliss.

ਉਰਝਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਮਨ ਮੀਠ ਮੁੋਹਾਰਾ ॥

urjhi pariō man mīṭh mōhārā ॥

उरझि परिओ मन मीठ मुोहारा ॥

The mind is entangled in sweet emotional attachment.

ਗੁਨ ਗਾਹਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥

gun gāhak mērē prān adhārā ॥1॥

गुन गाहक मेरे प्रान अधारा ॥१॥

Those who seek God's Glorious Virtues are the support of my breath of life. ||1||

ਏਕੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥

ēku hamārā antrajāmī ॥

एकु हमारा अंतरजामी ॥

My One Lord is the Inner-Knower, the Searcher of hearts.

ਧਰ ਏਕਾ ਮੈ ਟਿਕ ਏਕਸੁ ਕੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

dhar ēkā mai ṭik ēksu kī siri sāhā vaḍ purkhu suāmī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

धर एका मै टिक एकसु की सिरि साहा वड पुरखु सुआमी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

He alone is my Support; He is my only Protection. My Great Lord and Master is over and above the heads of kings. ||1||Pause||

ਛਲ ਨਾਗਨਿ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਟੂਟਨਿ ਹੋਈ ॥

chhal nāgni siu mērī ṭūṭni hōī ॥

छल नागनि सिउ मेरी टूटनि होई ॥

I have broken my ties to that deceitful serpent.

ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਇਹ ਝੂਠੀ ਧੋਹੀ ॥

guri kahiā ih jhūṭhī dhōhī ॥

गुरि कहिआ इह झूठी धोही ॥

The Guru has told me that it is false and fraudulent.

ਮੁਖਿ ਮੀਠੀ ਖਾਈ ਕਉਰਾਇ ॥

mukhi mīṭhī khāī kaurāi ॥

मुखि मीठी खाई कउराइ ॥

Its face is sweet, but it tastes very bitter.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਨੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਅਘਾਇ ॥੨॥

ammrit nāmi manu rahiā aghāi ॥2॥

अंम्रित नामि मनु रहिआ अघाइ ॥२॥

My mind remains satisfied with the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਸਿਉ ਗਈ ਵਿਖੋਟਿ ॥

lōbh mōh siu gaī vikhōṭi ॥

लोभ मोह सिउ गई विखोटि ॥

I have broken my ties with greed and emotional attachment.

ਗੁਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਿ ਮੋਹਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਛੋਟਿ ॥

guri kripāli mōhi kīnī chhōṭi ॥

गुरि क्रिपालि मोहि कीनी छोटि ॥

The Merciful Guru has rescued me from them.

ਇਹ ਠਗਵਾਰੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਘਰ ਗਾਲੇ ॥

ih ṭhagvārī bahutu ghar gālē ॥

इह ठगवारी बहुतु घर गाले ॥

These cheating thieves have plundered so many homes.

ਹਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੇ ॥੩॥

ham guri rākhi līē kirpālē ॥3॥

हम गुरि राखि लीए किरपाले ॥३॥

The Merciful Guru has protected and saved me. ||3||

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਸਿਉ ਠਾਟੁ ਨ ਬਨਿਆ ॥

kām krōdh siu ṭhāṭu na baniā ॥

काम क्रोध सिउ ठाटु न बनिआ ॥

I have no dealings whatsoever with sexual desire and anger.

ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਕਾਨੀ ਸੁਨਿਆ ॥

gur updēsu mōhi kānī suniā ॥

गुर उपदेसु मोहि कानी सुनिआ ॥

I listen to the Guru's Teachings.

ਜਹ ਦੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਮਹਾ ਚੰਡਾਲ ॥

jah dēkhau tah mahā chaṇḍāl ॥

जह देखउ तह महा चंडाल ॥

Wherever I look, I see the most horrible goblins.

ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੪॥

rākhi līē apunai guri gōpāl ॥4॥

राखि लीए अपुनै गुरि गोपाल ॥४॥

My Guru, the Lord of the World, has saved me from them. ||4||

ਦਸ ਨਾਰੀ ਮੈ ਕਰੀ ਦੁਹਾਗਨਿ ॥

das nārī mai karī duhāgni ॥

दस नारी मै करी दुहागनि ॥

I have made widows of the ten sensory organs.

ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਏਹ ਰਸਹਿ ਬਿਖਾਗਨਿ ॥

guri kahiā ēh rashi bikhāgni ॥

गुरि कहिआ एह रसहि बिखागनि ॥

The Guru has told me that these pleasures are the fires of corruption.

ਇਨ ਸਨਬੰਧੀ ਰਸਾਤਲਿ ਜਾਇ ॥

in sanbandhī rasātli jāi ॥

इन सनबंधी रसातलि जाइ ॥

Those who associate with them go to hell.

ਹਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੫॥

ham guri rākhē hari liv lāi ॥5॥

हम गुरि राखे हरि लिव लाइ ॥५॥

The Guru has saved me; I am lovingly attuned to the Lord. ||5||

ਅਹੰਮੇਵ ਸਿਉ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਛੋਡੀ ॥

ahmmēv siu maslati chhōḍī ॥

अहंमेव सिउ मसलति छोडी ॥

I have forsaken the advice of my ego.

ਗੁਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਇਹੁ ਮੂਰਖੁ ਹੋਡੀ ॥

guri kahiā ihu mūrkhu hōḍī ॥

गुरि कहिआ इहु मूरखु होडी ॥

The Guru has told me that this is foolish stubbornness.

ਇਹੁ ਨੀਘਰੁ ਘਰੁ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥

ihu nīghru gharu kahī na pāē ॥

इहु नीघरु घरु कही न पाए ॥

This ego is homeless; it shall never find a home.

ਹਮ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਲੀਏ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੬॥

ham guri rākhi līē liv lāē ॥6॥

हम गुरि राखि लीए लिव लाए ॥६॥

The Guru has saved me; I am lovingly attuned to the Lord. ||6||

ਇਨ ਲੋਗਨ ਸਿਉ ਹਮ ਭਏ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥

in lōgan siu ham bhaē bairāī ॥

इन लोगन सिउ हम भए बैराई ॥

I have become alienated from these people.

ਏਕ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਦੁਇ ਨ ਖਟਾਂਈ ॥

ēk grih mahi dui na khaṭāṃī ॥

एक ग्रिह महि दुइ न खटांई ॥

We cannot both live together in one home.

ਆਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਹਿ ਅੰਚਰਿ ਲਾਗਿ ॥

āē prabh pahi añcri lāgi ॥

आए प्रभ पहि अंचरि लागि ॥

Grasping the hem of the Guru's Robe, I have come to God.

ਕਰਹੁ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਬਾਗਿ ॥੭॥

karahu tapāvsu prabh sarbāgi ॥7॥

करहु तपावसु प्रभ सरबागि ॥७॥

Please be fair with me, All-knowing Lord God. ||7||

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਸਿ ਬੋਲੇ ਕੀਏ ਨਿਆਂਏਂ ॥

prabh hasi bōlē kīē niāṃēṃ ॥

प्रभ हसि बोले कीए निआंएं ॥

God smiled at me and spoke, passing judgement.

ਸਗਲ ਦੂਤ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥

sagal dūt mērī sēvā lāē ॥

सगल दूत मेरी सेवा लाए ॥

He made all the demons perform service for me.

ਤੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਇਹੁ ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥

tūṃ ṭhākuru ihu grihu sabhu tērā ॥

तूं ठाकुरु इहु ग्रिहु सभु तेरा ॥

You are my Lord and Master; all this home belongs to You.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥੮॥੧॥

kahu nānak guri kīā nibērā ॥8॥1॥

कहु नानक गुरि कीआ निबेरा ॥८॥१॥

Says Nanak, the Guru has passed judgement. ||8||1||
