ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਨ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਦੇ ਤਹ ਤੁਮ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਘਰੁ ੨ ॥

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl, Second House:

ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਆਪਨ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਦੇ ਤਹ ਤੁਮ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੇ ॥

māt garabh mahi āpan simranu dē tah tum rākhnahārē ॥

मात गरभ महि आपन सिमरनु दे तह तुम राखनहारे ॥

In our mother's womb, You blessed us with Your meditative remembrance, and You preserved us there.

ਪਾਵਕ ਸਾਗਰ ਅਥਾਹ ਲਹਰਿ ਮਹਿ ਤਾਰਹੁ ਤਾਰਨਹਾਰੇ ॥੧॥

pāvak sāgar athāh lahri mahi tārhu tāranhārē ॥1॥

पावक सागर अथाह लहरि महि तारहु तारनहारे ॥१॥

Through the countless waves of the ocean of fire, please, carry us across and save us, O Savior Lord! ||1||

ਮਾਧੌ ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਮੋਰਾ ॥

mādhau tū ṭhākuru siri mōrā ॥

माधौ तू ठाकुरु सिरि मोरा ॥

O Lord, You are the Master above my head.

ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਤੁਹਾਰੋ ਧੋਰਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

īhā ūhā tuhārō dhōrā ॥ rahāu ॥

ईहा ऊहा तुहारो धोरा ॥ रहाउ ॥

Here and hereafter, You alone are my Support. ||Pause||

ਕੀਤੇ ਕਉ ਮੇਰੈ ਸੰਮਾਨੈ ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਜਾਨੈ ॥

kītē kau mērai sammānai karṇahāru triṇu jānai ॥

कीते कउ मेरै संमानै करणहारु त्रिणु जानै ॥

He looks upon the creation like a mountain of gold, and sees the Creator as a blade of grass.

ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਾਗਨ ਕਉ ਸਗਲੀ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਨੈ ॥੨॥

tū dātā māgan kau saglī dānu dēhi prabh bhānai ॥2॥

तू दाता मागन कउ सगली दानु देहि प्रभ भानै ॥२॥

You are the Great Giver, and we are all mere beggars; O God, You give gifts according to Your Will. ||2||

ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਖਿਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਅਵਰਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਚਲਤ ਤੁਮਾਰੇ ॥

khin mahi avru khinai mahi avarā acraj chalat tumārē ॥

खिन महि अवरु खिनै महि अवरा अचरज चलत तुमारे ॥

In an instant, You are one thing, and in another instant, You are another. Wondrous are Your ways!

ਰੂੜੋ ਗੂੜੋ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੋ ਊਚੌ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੇ ॥੩॥

rūṛō gūṛō gahir gambhīrō ūchhau agam apārē ॥3॥

रूड़ो गूड़ो गहिर गंभीरो ऊचौ अगम अपारे ॥३॥

You are beautiful, mysterious, profound, unfathomable, lofty, inaccessible and infinite. ||3||

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਉ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਓ ਤਉ ਸੁਨੀ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

sādhsaṅgi jau tumhi milāiō tau sunī tumārī bāṇī ॥

साधसंगि जउ तुमहि मिलाइओ तउ सुनी तुमारी बाणी ॥

When You brought me to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, then I heard the Bani of Your Word.

ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਪੇਖਤ ਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੮॥

andu bhaiā pēkhat hī nānak pratāp purakh nirbāṇī ॥4॥7॥18॥

अनदु भइआ पेखत ही नानक प्रताप पुरख निरबाणी ॥४॥७॥१८॥

Nanak is in ecstasy, beholding the Glory of the Primal Lord of Nirvaanaa. ||4||7||18||
