सारग महला ५ ॥

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:

ਮਾਖੀ ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਤੂ ਮਾਖੀ ॥

mākhī rām kī tū mākhī ॥

माखी राम की तू माखी ॥

A fly! You are just a fly, created by the Lord.

ਜਹ ਦੁਰਗੰਧ ਤਹਾ ਤੂ ਬੈਸਹਿ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਦ ਚਾਖੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jah durgandh tahā tū baisahi mahā bikhiā mad chākhī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

जह दुरगंध तहा तू बैसहि महा बिखिआ मद चाखी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Wherever it stinks, you land there; you suck in the most toxic stench. ||1||Pause||

ਕਿਤਹਿ ਅਸਥਾਨਿ ਤੂ ਟਿਕਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਦੇਖੀ ਆਖੀ ॥

kitahi asthāni tū ṭiknu na pāvahi ih bidhi dēkhī ākhī ॥

कितहि असथानि तू टिकनु न पावहि इह बिधि देखी आखी ॥

You don't stay put anywhere; I have seen this with my eyes.

ਸੰਤਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਤੈ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਛਾਡਿਆ ਸੰਤ ਪਰੇ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਕੀ ਪਾਖੀ ॥੧॥

santā binu tai kōi na chhāḍiā sant parē gōbid kī pākhī ॥1॥

संता बिनु तै कोइ न छाडिआ संत परे गोबिद की पाखी ॥१॥

You have not spared anyone, except the Saints - the Saints are on the side of the Lord of the Universe. ||1||

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਗਲੇ ਤੈ ਮੋਹੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੰਤਾ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਲਾਖੀ ॥

jīa jant saglē tai mōhē binu santā kinai na lākhī ॥

जीअ जंत सगले तै मोहे बिनु संता किनै न लाखी ॥

You have enticed all beings and creatures; no one knows You, except the Saints.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਖੀ ॥੨॥੯੯॥੧੨੨॥

nānak dāsu hari kīrtani rātā sabdu surti sachu sākhī ॥2॥99॥122॥

नानक दासु हरि कीरतनि राता सबदु सुरति सचु साखी ॥२॥९९॥१२२॥

Slave Nanak is imbued with the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. Focusing his consciousness on the Word of the Shabad, he realizes the Presence of the True Lord. ||2||99||122||
