ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਗਨ ਕਉ ਹੈ ਕਛੂਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਇਹੁ ਧਾਵੈ ॥

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:

ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਗਨ ਕਉ ਹੈ ਕਛੂਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਫਿਰਿ ਇਹੁ ਧਾਵੈ ॥

lavai na lāgan kau hai kachhūai jā kau phiri ihu dhāvai ॥

लवै न लागन कउ है कछूऐ जा कउ फिरि इहु धावै ॥

Nothing which this mortal being runs after, can compare to it.

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਇਹੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤਿਸ ਹੀ ਕਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥

jā kau guri dīnō ihu ammritu tis hī kau bani āvai ॥1॥

जा कउ गुरि दीनो इहु अंम्रितु तिस ही कउ बनि आवै ॥१॥

He alone comes to have it, whom the Guru blesses with this Ambrosial Nectar. ||1||

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਇਓ ਏਕੁ ਰਸਾ ॥ ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ਆਨ ਨਹੀ ਖੁਧਿਆ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਬਸਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jā kau āiō ēku rasā ॥ khān pān ān nahī khudhiā tā kai chiti na basā ॥ rahāu ॥

जा कउ आइओ एकु रसा ॥ खान पान आन नही खुधिआ ता कै चिति न बसा ॥ रहाउ ॥

The desire to eat, to wear new clothes, and all other desires, do not abide in the mind of one who comes to know the subtle essence of the One Lord. ||Pause||

ਮਉਲਿਓ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਹੋਇਓ ਹਰਿਆ ਏਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

mauliō manu tanu hōiō hariā ēk būnd jini pāī ॥

मउलिओ मनु तनु होइओ हरिआ एक बूंद जिनि पाई ॥

The mind and body blossom forth in abundance, when one receives even a drop of this Nectar.

ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥

barni na sākau ustati tā kī kīmti kahṇu na jāī ॥2॥

बरनि न साकउ उसतति ता की कीमति कहणु न जाई ॥२॥

I cannot express His glory; I cannot describe His worth. ||2||

ਘਾਲ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਆਇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ॥

ghāl na miliō sēv na miliō miliō āi achintā ॥

घाल न मिलिओ सेव न मिलिओ मिलिओ आइ अचिंता ॥

We cannot meet the Lord by our own efforts, nor can we meet Him through service; He comes and meets us spontaneously.

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਹਿ ਕਮਾਨੋ ਮੰਤਾ ॥੩॥

jā kau daiā karī mērai ṭhākuri tini gurhi kamānō mantā ॥3॥

जा कउ दइआ करी मेरै ठाकुरि तिनि गुरहि कमानो मंता ॥३॥

One who is blessed by my Lord Master's Grace, practices the Teachings of the Guru's Mantra. ||3||

ਦੀਨ ਦੈਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲਾ ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲਾ ॥

dīn daiāl sadā kirpālā sarab jīā pratipālā ॥

दीन दैआल सदा किरपाला सरब जीआ प्रतिपाला ॥

He is merciful to the meek, always kind and compassionate; He cherishes and nurtures all beings.

ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਜਿਉ ਮਾਤਾ ਬਾਲ ਗੁੋਪਾਲਾ ॥੪॥੭॥

ōti pōti nānak saṅgi raviā jiu mātā bāl gōpālā ॥4॥7॥

ओति पोति नानक संगि रविआ जिउ माता बाल गुोपाला ॥४॥७॥

The Lord is mingled with Nanak, through and through; He cherishes him, like the mother her child. ||4||7||
