ਲਖ ਨੇਕੀਆ ਚੰਗਿਆਈਆ ਲਖ ਪੁੰਨਾ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥

lakh nēkīā chaṅgiāīā lakh punnā parvāṇu ॥

लख नेकीआ चंगिआईआ लख पुंना परवाणु ॥

Hundreds of thousands of virtues and good actions, and hundreds of thousands of blessed charities,

ਲਖ ਤਪ ਉਪਰਿ ਤੀਰਥਾਂ ਸਹਜ ਜੋਗ ਬੇਬਾਣ ॥

lakh tap upri tīrthāṃ sahaj jōg bēbāṇ ॥

लख तप उपरि तीरथां सहज जोग बेबाण ॥

Hundreds of thousands of penances at sacred shrines, and the practice of Sehj Yoga in the wilderness,

ਲਖ ਸੂਰਤਣ ਸੰਗਰਾਮ ਰਣ ਮਹਿ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਪਰਾਣ ॥

lakh sūrtaṇ saṅgrām raṇ mahi chhuṭhi parāṇ ॥

लख सूरतण संगराम रण महि छुटहि पराण ॥

Hundreds of thousands of courageous actions and giving up the breath of life on the field of battle,

ਲਖ ਸੁਰਤੀ ਲਖ ਗਿਆਨ ਧਿਆਨ ਪੜੀਅਹਿ ਪਾਠ ਪੁਰਾਣ ॥

lakh suratī lakh giān dhiān paṛīhi pāṭh purāṇ ॥

लख सुरती लख गिआन धिआन पड़ीअहि पाठ पुराण ॥

Hundreds of thousands of divine understandings, hundreds of thousands of divine wisdoms and meditations and readings of the Vedas and the Puraanas

ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਕਰਣਾ ਕੀਆ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ॥

jini kartai karṇā kīā likhiā āvaṇ jāṇu ॥

जिनि करतै करणा कीआ लिखिआ आवण जाणु ॥

- before the Creator who created the creation, and who ordained coming and going,

ਨਾਨਕ ਮਤੀ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਕਰਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੨॥

nānak matī mithiā karmu sachā nīsāṇu ॥2॥

नानक मती मिथिआ करमु सचा नीसाणु ॥२॥

O Nanak, all these things are false. True is the Insignia of His Grace. ||2||
