ਲੂਣੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ਰਣ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਲੜਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੁ ਜਾਪੈ॥

ਲੂਣੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ਰਣ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਲੜਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੁ ਜਾਪੈ॥

lūṇu sāhib dā khāi kai raṇ andri laṛi marai su jāpai॥

लूणु साहिब दा खाइ कै रण अंदरि लड़ि मरै सु जापै॥

True is he who is true to the salt of his master and dies fighting for him in the battelfield.

ਸਿਰ ਵਢੈ ਹਥੀਆਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਵਰੀਆਮਾ ਵਰਿਆਮੁ ਸਿਾਪੈ॥

sir vaḍhai hathīāru kari varīāmā variāmu sāpai॥

सिर वढै हथीआरु करि वरीआमा वरिआमु सिापै॥

One who beheads the enemy with his weapon is known as brave among the warriors.

ਤਿਸੁ ਪਿਛੈ ਜੋ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਥਪਿ ਥੇਈ ਦੇ ਵਰੈ ਸਰਾਪੈ॥

tisu pichhai jō istarī thapi thēī dē varai sarāpai॥

तिसु पिछै जो इसतरी थपि थेई दे वरै सरापै॥

His bereaved woman is established as sati capable of granting boons and curses.

ਪੋਤੈ ਪੁਤ ਵਡੀਰੀਅਨਿ ਪਰਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਧਾਰੁ ਪਰਾਪੈ॥

pōtai put vaḍīrīni parvārai sādhāru parāpai॥

पोतै पुत वडीरीअनि परवारै साधारु परापै॥

Sons and grandsons are praised and the whole family becomes exalted.

ਵਖਤੈ ਉਪਰਿ ਲੜਿ ਮਰੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵੇਲੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਅਲਾਪੈ॥

vakhtai upri laṛi marai ammrit vēlai sabdu alāpai॥

वखतै उपरि लड़ि मरै अंम्रित वेलै सबदु अलापै॥

One who dies fighting in the hour of peril and recites the Word in the ambrosial hour is known as the true warrior.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਆਪੁ ਆਪੈ॥

sādhsaṅgti vichi jāi kai haumai māri marai āpu āpai॥

साधसंगति विचि जाइ कै हउमै मारि मरै आपु आपै॥

Going to the holy congregation and effacing his desires, he wipes out his ego.

ਲੜਿ ਮਰਣਾ ਤੈ ਸਤੀ ਹੋਣੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪੰਥੁ ਪੂਰਣ ਪਰਤਾਪੈ॥

laṛi marṇā tai satī hōṇu gurmukhi panthu pūraṇ partāpai॥

लड़ि मरणा तै सती होणु गुरमुखि पंथु पूरण परतापै॥

Dying while fighting in battle and maintaining of the controle over the senses is the grand path of the gurmukhs.

ਸਚਿ ਸਿਦਕ ਸਚ ਪੀਰੁ ਪਛਾਪੈ ॥੧੪॥

sachi sidak sac pīru pachhāpai ॥14॥

सचि सिदक सच पीरु पछापै ॥१४॥

In whom you repose your full faith is known as the true Guru.
