ਲਾਲੁ ਚੋਲਨਾ ਤੈ ਤਨਿ ਸੋਹਿਆ ॥

ਰਾਗੁ ਆਸਾ ਘਰੁ ੭ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

rāgu āsā gharu 7 mahlā 5 ॥

रागु आसा घरु ७ महला ५ ॥

Aasaa, Seventh House, Fifth Mehl:

ਲਾਲੁ ਚੋਲਨਾ ਤੈ ਤਨਿ ਸੋਹਿਆ ॥

lālu chōlnā tai tani sōhiā ॥

लालु चोलना तै तनि सोहिआ ॥

That red dress looks so beautiful on your body.

ਸੁਰਿਜਨ ਭਾਨੀ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਆ ॥੧॥

surijan bhānī tāṃ manu mōhiā ॥1॥

सुरिजन भानी तां मनु मोहिआ ॥१॥

Your Husband Lord is pleased, and His heart is enticed. ||1||

ਕਵਨ ਬਨੀ ਰੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਲਾਲੀ ॥

kavan banī rī tērī lālī ॥

कवन बनी री तेरी लाली ॥

Whose handiwork is this red beauty of yours?

ਕਵਨ ਰੰਗਿ ਤੂੰ ਭਈ ਗੁਲਾਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kavan raṅgi tūṃ bhaī gulālī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

कवन रंगि तूं भई गुलाली ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Whose love has rendered the poppy so red? ||1||Pause||

ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ॥

tum hī sundri tumhi suhāgu ॥

तुम ही सुंदरि तुमहि सुहागु ॥

You are so beautiful; you are the happy soul-bride.

ਤੁਮ ਘਰਿ ਲਾਲਨੁ ਤੁਮ ਘਰਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥੨॥

tum ghari lālnu tum ghari bhāgu ॥2॥

तुम घरि लालनु तुम घरि भागु ॥२॥

Your Beloved is in your home; good fortune is in your home. ||2||

ਤੂੰ ਸਤਵੰਤੀ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਧਾਨਿ ॥

tūṃ satvantī tūṃ pardhāni ॥

तूं सतवंती तूं परधानि ॥

You are pure and chaste, you are most distinguished.

ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਾਨੀ ਤੁਹੀ ਸੁਰ ਗਿਆਨਿ ॥੩॥

tūṃ prītam bhānī tuhī sur giāni ॥3॥

तूं प्रीतम भानी तुही सुर गिआनि ॥३॥

You are pleasing to Your Beloved, and you have sublime understanding. ||3||

ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਾਨੀ ਤਾਂ ਰੰਗਿ ਗੁਲਾਲ ॥

prītam bhānī tāṃ raṅgi gulāl ॥

प्रीतम भानी तां रंगि गुलाल ॥

I am pleasing to my Beloved, and so I am imbued with the deep red color.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਭ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੪॥

kahu nānak subh drisṭi nihāl ॥4॥

कहु नानक सुभ द्रिसटि निहाल ॥४॥

Says Nanak, I have been totally blessed with the Lord's Glance of Grace. ||4||

ਸੁਨਿ ਰੀ ਸਖੀ ਇਹ ਹਮਰੀ ਘਾਲ ॥

suni rī sakhī ih hamrī ghāl ॥

सुनि री सखी इह हमरी घाल ॥

Listen, O companions: this is my only work;

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਿ ਸੀਗਾਰਿ ਸਵਾਰਨਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੧॥੫੨॥

prabh āpi sīgāri savārnahār ॥1॥ rahāu dūjā ॥1॥52॥

प्रभ आपि सीगारि सवारनहार ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥१॥५२॥
