ਕਰੈ ਦੁਹਕਰਮ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ

ਗਉੜੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

gauṛī mahlā 5 ॥

गउड़ी महला ५ ॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਰੈ ਦੁਹਕਰਮ ਦਿਖਾਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ ॥

karai duhkaram dikhāvai hōru ॥

करै दुहकरम दिखावै होरु ॥

They do their evil deeds, and pretend otherwise;

ਰਾਮ ਕੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਰੁ ॥੧॥

rām kī dargah bādhā chōru ॥1॥

राम की दरगह बाधा चोरु ॥१॥

But in the Court of the Lord, they shall be bound and gagged like thieves. ||1||

ਰਾਮੁ ਰਮੈ ਸੋਈ ਰਾਮਾਣਾ ॥

rāmu ramai sōī rāmāṇā ॥

रामु रमै सोई रामाणा ॥

Those who remember the Lord belong to the Lord.

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਏਕੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

jali thali mahīli ēku samāṇā ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

जलि थलि महीअलि एकु समाणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

The One Lord is contained in the water, the land and the sky. ||1||Pause||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ॥

antri bikhu mukhi ammritu suṇāvai ॥

अंतरि बिखु मुखि अंम्रितु सुणावै ॥

Their inner beings are filled with poison, and yet with their mouths, they preach words of Ambrosial Nectar.

ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ ॥੨॥

jam puri bādhā chōṭā khāvai ॥2॥

जम पुरि बाधा चोटा खावै ॥२॥

Bound and gagged in the City of Death, they are punished and beaten. ||2||

ਅਨਿਕ ਪੜਦੇ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਵਿਕਾਰ ॥

anik paṛdē mahi kamāvai vikār ॥

अनिक पड़दे महि कमावै विकार ॥

Hiding behind many screens, they commit acts of corruption,

ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਹਿ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੩॥

khin mahi pragaṭ hōhi saṃsār ॥3॥

खिन महि प्रगट होहि संसार ॥३॥

But in an instant, they are revealed to all the world. ||3||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਸਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥

antri sāchi nāmi rasi rātā ॥

अंतरि साचि नामि रसि राता ॥

Those whose inner beings are true, who are attuned to the ambrosial essence of the Naam, the Name of the Lord

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥੪॥੭੧॥੧੪੦॥

nānak tisu kirpālu bidhātā ॥4॥71॥140॥

नानक तिसु किरपालु बिधाता ॥४॥७१॥१४०॥

- O Nanak, the Lord, the Architect of Destiny, is merciful to them. ||4||71||140||
