ਕਣ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਥੋਥਰ ਤੁਖਾ ॥

गउड़ी महला ५ ॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਣ ਬਿਨਾ ਜੈਸੇ ਥੋਥਰ ਤੁਖਾ ॥

kaṇ binā jaisē thōthar tukhā ॥

कण बिना जैसे थोथर तुखा ॥

As the husk is empty without the grain,

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਸੂਨੇ ਸੇ ਮੁਖਾ ॥੧॥

nām bihūn sūnē sē mukhā ॥1॥

नाम बिहून सूने से मुखा ॥१॥

So is the mouth empty without the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ॥

hari hari nāmu japhu nit prāṇī ॥

हरि हरि नामु जपहु नित प्राणी ॥

O mortal, chant continually the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਦੇਹ ਬਿਗਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

nām bihūn dhrigu dēh bigānī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

नाम बिहून ध्रिगु देह बिगानी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Without the Naam, cursed is the body, which shall be taken back by Death. ||1||Pause||

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਭਾਗੁ ॥

nām binā nāhī mukhi bhāgu ॥

नाम बिना नाही मुखि भागु ॥

Without the Naam, no one's face shows good fortune.

ਭਰਤ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਕਹਾ ਸੋਹਾਗੁ ॥੨॥

bharat bihūn kahā sōhāgu ॥2॥

भरत बिहून कहा सोहागु ॥२॥

Without the Husband, where is the marriage? ||2||

ਨਾਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਲਗੈ ਅਨ ਸੁਆਇ ॥

nāmu bisāri lagai an suāi ॥

नामु बिसारि लगै अन सुआइ ॥

Forgetting the Naam, and attached to other tastes,

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਨ ਪੂਜੈ ਕਾਇ ॥੩॥

tā kī ās na pūjai kāi ॥3॥

ता की आस न पूजै काइ ॥३॥

No desires are fulfilled. ||3||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੀ ਦਾਤਿ ॥

kari kirpā prabh apnī dāti ॥

करि किरपा प्रभ अपनी दाति ॥

O God, grant Your Grace, and give me this gift.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤਿ ॥੪॥੬੫॥੧੩੪॥

nānak nāmu japai din rāti ॥4॥65॥134॥

नानक नामु जपै दिन राति ॥४॥६५॥१३४॥

Please, let Nanak chant Your Name, day and night. ||4||65||134||
