ਕੋਟਿ ਲਾਖ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥

Maaroo, Fifth Mehl:

ਕੋਟਿ ਲਾਖ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥

kōṭi lākh sarab kō rājā jisu hirdai nāmu tumārā ॥

कोटि लाख सरब को राजा जिसु हिरदै नामु तुमारा ॥

One who has Your Name in his heart is the king of all the hundreds of thousands and millions of beings.

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਦੀਆ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸੇ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ॥੧॥

jā kau nāmu na dīā mērai satiguri sē mari janmahi gāvārā ॥1॥

जा कउ नामु न दीआ मेरै सतिगुरि से मरि जनमहि गावारा ॥१॥

Those, whom my True Guru has not blessed with Your Name, are poor idiots, who die and are reborn. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੁ ॥

mērē satigur hī pati rākhu ॥

मेरे सतिगुर ही पति राखु ॥

My True Guru protects and preserves my honor.

ਚੀਤਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਰਲੀਐ ਖਾਕੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

chīti āvahi tab hī pati pūrī bisrat ralīai khāku ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

चीति आवहि तब ही पति पूरी बिसरत रलीऐ खाकु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

When You come to mind, Lord, then I obtain perfect honor. Forgetting You, I roll in the dust. ||1||Pause||

ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਖੁਸੀਆ ਮਨ ਭੋਗਣ ਤੇ ਤੇ ਛਿਦ੍ਰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾ ॥

rūp raṅg khusīā man bhōgaṇ tē tē chhidr vikārā ॥

रूप रंग खुसीआ मन भोगण ते ते छिद्र विकारा ॥

The mind's pleasures of love and beauty bring just as many blames and sins.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਕਲਿਆਣਾ ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜੁ ਇਹੁ ਸਾਰਾ ॥੨॥

hari kā nāmu nidhānu kaliāṇā sūkh sahju ihu sārā ॥2॥

हरि का नामु निधानु कलिआणा सूख सहजु इहु सारा ॥२॥

The Name of the Lord is the treasure of Emancipation; it is absolute peace and poise. ||2||

ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਬਿਰੰਗ ਖਿਨੈ ਮਹਿ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਦਰ ਕੀ ਛਾਇਆ ॥

māiā raṅg biraṅg khinai mahi jiu bādar kī chhāiā ॥

माइआ रंग बिरंग खिनै महि जिउ बादर की छाइआ ॥

The pleasures of Maya fade away in an instant, like the shade of a passing cloud.

ਸੇ ਲਾਲ ਭਏ ਗੂੜੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੩॥

sē lāl bhaē gūṛai raṅgi rātē jin gur mili hari hari gāiā ॥3॥

से लाल भए गूड़ै रंगि राते जिन गुर मिलि हरि हरि गाइआ ॥३॥

They alone are dyed in the deep crimson of the Lord's Love, who meet the Guru, and sing the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||

ਊਚ ਮੂਚ ਅਪਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਗਮ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ॥

ūch mūch apār suāmī agam darbārā ॥

ऊच मूच अपार सुआमी अगम दरबारा ॥

My Lord and Master is lofty and exalted, grand and infinite. The Darbaar of His Court is inaccessible.

ਨਾਮੋ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੬॥

nāmō vaḍiāī sōbhā nānak khasmu piārā ॥4॥7॥16॥

नामो वडिआई सोभा नानक खसमु पिआरा ॥४॥७॥१६॥

Through the Naam, glorious greatness and respect are obtained; O Nanak, my Lord and Master is my Beloved. ||4||7||16||
