ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ik-ōṅkār satigur prasādi ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥

jis nō prēmu manni vasāē ॥

जिस नो प्रेमु मंनि वसाए ॥

One whose mind is filled with the Lord's Love,

ਸਾਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥

sāchai sabdi sahji subhāē ॥

साचै सबदि सहजि सुभाए ॥

Is intuitively exalted by the True Word of the Shabad.

ਏਹਾ ਵੇਦਨ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥

ēhā vēdan sōī jāṇai avru ki jāṇai kārī jīu ॥1॥

एहा वेदन सोई जाणै अवरु कि जाणै कारी जीउ ॥१॥

He alone knows the pain of this love; what does anyone else know about its cure? ||1||

ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

āpē mēlē āpi milāē ॥

आपे मेले आपि मिलाए ॥

He Himself unites in His Union.

ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥

āpaṇā piāru āpē lāē ॥

आपणा पिआरु आपे लाए ॥

He Himself inspires us with His Love.

ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਸੋਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

prēm kī sār sōī jāṇai jis nō nadri tumārī jīu ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

प्रेम की सार सोई जाणै जिस नो नदरि तुमारी जीउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

He alone appreciates the value of Your Love, upon whom You shower Your Grace, O Lord. ||1||Pause||

ਦਿਬ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਜਾਗੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥

dib drisṭi jāgai bharmu chukāē ॥

दिब द्रिसटि जागै भरमु चुकाए ॥

One whose spiritual vision is awakened - his doubt is driven out.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

gur parsādi param padu pāē ॥

गुर परसादि परम पदु पाए ॥

By Guru's Grace, he obtains the supreme status.

ਸੋ ਜੋਗੀ ਇਹ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥

sō jōgī ih jugti pachhāṇai gur kai sabdi bīchārī jīu ॥2॥

सो जोगी इह जुगति पछाणै गुर कै सबदि बीचारी जीउ ॥२॥

He alone is a Yogi, who understands this way, and contemplates the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||2||

ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਧਨ ਪਿਰ ਮੇਲਾ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

sañjōgī dhan pir mēlā hōvai ॥

संजोगी धन पिर मेला होवै ॥

By good destiny, the soul-bride is united with her Husband Lord.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਵੈ ॥

gurmati vichhu durmati khōvai ॥

गुरमति विचहु दुरमति खोवै ॥

Following the Guru's Teachings, she eradicates her evil-mindedness from within.

ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਨਿਤ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਣੈ ਅਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥

raṅg siu nit ralīā māṇai apṇē kant piārī jīu ॥3॥

रंग सिउ नित रलीआ माणै अपणे कंत पिआरी जीउ ॥३॥

With love, she continually enjoys pleasure with Him; she becomes the beloved of her Husband Lord. ||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਵੈਦੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥

satigur bājhhu vaidu na kōī ॥

सतिगुर बाझहु वैदु न कोई ॥

Other than the True Guru, there is no physician.

ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥

āpē āpi nirñjanu sōī ॥

आपे आपि निरंजनु सोई ॥

He Himself is the Immaculate Lord.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਮਰੈ ਮੰਦਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥

satigur miliai marai mandā hōvai giān bīchārī jīu ॥4॥

सतिगुर मिलिऐ मरै मंदा होवै गिआन बीचारी जीउ ॥४॥

Meeting with the True Guru, evil is conquered, and spiritual wisdom is contemplated. ||4||

ਏਹੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਾਰੁ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਏ ॥

ēhu sabdu sāru jis nō lāē ॥

एहु सबदु सारु जिस नो लाए ॥

One who is committed to this most sublime Shabad

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਏ ॥

gurmukhi trisnā bhukh gavāē ॥

गुरमुखि त्रिसना भुख गवाए ॥

Becomes Gurmukh, and is rid of thirst and hunger.

ਆਪਣ ਲੀਆ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੫॥

āpaṇ līā kichhū na pāīai kari kirpā kal dhārī jīu ॥5॥

आपण लीआ किछू न पाईऐ करि किरपा कल धारी जीउ ॥५॥

By one's own efforts, nothing can be accomplished; the Lord, in His Mercy, bestows power. ||5||

ਅਗਮ ਨਿਗਮੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥

agam nigmu satigurū dikhāiā ॥

अगम निगमु सतिगुरू दिखाइआ ॥

The True Guru has revealed the essence of the Shaastras and the Vedas.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅਪਨੈ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥

kari kirpā apnai ghari āiā ॥

करि किरपा अपनै घरि आइआ ॥

In His Mercy, He has come into the home of my self.

ਅੰਜਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੬॥

añjan māhi nirñjanu jātā jin kau nadri tumārī jīu ॥6॥

अंजन माहि निरंजनु जाता जिन कउ नदरि तुमारी जीउ ॥६॥

In the midst of Maya, the Immaculate Lord is known, by those upon whom You bestow Your Grace. ||6||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਤਤੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

gurmukhi hōvai sō tatu pāē ॥

गुरमुखि होवै सो ततु पाए ॥

One who becomes Gurmukh, obtains the essence of reality;

ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪੁ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥

āpaṇā āpu vichhu gavāē ॥

आपणा आपु विचहु गवाए ॥

He eradictes his self-conceit from within.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਧੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੭॥

satigur bājhhu sabhu dhandhu kamāvai vēkhhu mani vīchārī jīu ॥7॥

सतिगुर बाझहु सभु धंधु कमावै वेखहु मनि वीचारी जीउ ॥७॥

Without the True Guru, all are entangled in worldly affairs; consider this in your mind, and see. ||7||

ਇਕਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥

iki bhrami bhūlē phirhi ahaṅkārī ॥

इकि भ्रमि भूले फिरहि अहंकारी ॥

Some are deluded by doubt; they strut around egotistically.

ਇਕਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ॥

iknā gurmukhi haumai mārī ॥

इकना गुरमुखि हउमै मारी ॥

Some, as Gurmukh, subdue their egotism.

ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਹੋਰਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੇ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੮॥

sachai sabdi ratē bairāgī hōri bharmi bhulē gāvārī jīu ॥8॥

सचै सबदि रते बैरागी होरि भरमि भुले गावारी जीउ ॥८॥

Attuned to the True Word of the Shabad, they remain detached from the world. The other ignorant fools wander, confused and deluded by doubt. ||8||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

gurmukhi jinī nāmu na pāiā ॥

गुरमुखि जिनी नामु न पाइआ ॥

Those who have not become Gurmukh, and who have not found the Naam, the Name of the Lord

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥

manmukhi birthā janmu gavāiā ॥

मनमुखि बिरथा जनमु गवाइआ ॥

Those self-willed manmukhs waste their lives uselessly.

ਅਗੈ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ਗੁਰ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੯॥

agai viṇu nāvai kō bēlī nāhī būjhai gur bīchārī jīu ॥9॥

अगै विणु नावै को बेली नाही बूझै गुर बीचारी जीउ ॥९॥

In the world hereafter, nothing except the Name will be of any assistance; this is understood by contemplating the Guru. ||9||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥

ammrit nāmu sadā sukhdātā ॥

अंम्रित नामु सदा सुखदाता ॥

The Ambrosial Naam is the Giver of peace forever.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਜਾਤਾ ॥

guri pūrai jug chārē jātā ॥

गुरि पूरै जुग चारे जाता ॥

Throughout the four ages, it is known through the Perfect Guru.

ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਤੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧੦॥੧॥

jisu tū dēvahi sōī pāē nānak tatu bīchārī jīu ॥10॥1॥

जिसु तू देवहि सोई पाए नानक ततु बीचारी जीउ ॥१०॥१॥

He alone receives it, unto whom You bestow it; this is the essence of reality which Nanak has realized. ||10||1||
