ਜਿਸੁ ਨੀਚ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ॥

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

आसा महला ५ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਿਸੁ ਨੀਚ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ॥

jisu nīch kau kōī na jānai ॥

जिसु नीच कउ कोई न जानै ॥

That wretched being, whom no one knows

ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਉਹੁ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਟ ਮਾਨੈ ॥੧॥

nāmu japat uhu chahu kuṇṭ mānai ॥1॥

नामु जपत उहु चहु कुंट मानै ॥१॥

- chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, he is honored in the four directions. ||1||

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਮਾਗਉ ਦੇਹਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

darsanu māgau dēhi piārē ॥

दरसनु मागउ देहि पिआरे ॥

I beg for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan; please, give it to me, O Beloved!

ਤੁਮਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਉਨ ਕਉਨ ਨ ਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

tumrī sēvā kaun kaun na tārē ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

तुमरी सेवा कउन कउन न तारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Serving You, who, who has not been saved? ||1||Pause||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਕੋਈ ॥

jā kai nikṭi na āvai kōī ॥

जा कै निकटि न आवै कोई ॥

That person, whom no one wants to be near

ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਆ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਈ ॥੨॥

sagal srisṭi uā kē charan mali dhōī ॥2॥

सगल स्रिसटि उआ के चरन मलि धोई ॥२॥

- the whole world comes to wash the dirt of his feet. ||2||

ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾਹੂ ਨ ਆਵਤ ਕਾਮ ॥

jō prānī kāhū na āvat kām ॥

जो प्रानी काहू न आवत काम ॥

That mortal, who is of no use to anyone at all

ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤਾ ਕੋ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮ ॥੩॥

sant prasādi tā kō japīai nām ॥3॥

संत प्रसादि ता को जपीऐ नाम ॥३॥

- by the Grace of the Saints, he meditates on the Naam. ||3||

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਨ ਸੋਵਤ ਜਾਗੇ ॥

sādhsaṅgi man sōvat jāgē ॥

साधसंगि मन सोवत जागे ॥

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the sleeping mind awakens.

ਤਬ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੀਠੇ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੬੩॥

tab prabh nānak mīṭhē lāgē ॥4॥12॥63॥

तब प्रभ नानक मीठे लागे ॥४॥१२॥६३॥

Then, O Nanak, God seems sweet. ||4||12||63||
