ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋਈ ਵਡ ਰਾਜਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai sōī vaḍ rājā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै सोई वड राजा ॥

He alone is a great king, who keeps the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within his heart.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੂਰੇ ਕਾਜਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu pūrē kājā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु पूरे काजा ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart - his tasks are perfectly accomplished.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਧਨ ਪਾਏ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tini kōṭi dhan pāē ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिनि कोटि धन पाए ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart, obtains millions of treasures.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥

nām binā janmu birthā jāē ॥1॥

नाम बिना जनमु बिरथा जाए ॥१॥

Without the Naam, life is useless. ||1||

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ॥

tisu sālāhī jisu hari dhanu rāsi ॥

तिसु सालाही जिसु हरि धनु रासि ॥

I praise that person, who has the capital of the Lord's Wealth.

ਸੋ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਾਥੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sō vaḍbhāgī jisu gur masatki hāthu ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

सो वडभागी जिसु गुर मसतकि हाथु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

He is very fortunate, on whose forehead the Guru has placed His Hand. ||1||Pause||

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੋਟ ਕਈ ਸੈਨਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu kōṭ kaī sainā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु कोट कई सैना ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart, has many millions of armies on his side.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਖੈਨਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu sahaj sukhainā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु सहज सुखैना ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart, enjoys peace and poise.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੂਆ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai sō sītlu hūā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै सो सीतलु हूआ ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart becomes cool and calm.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਮੂਆ ॥੨॥

nām binā dhrigu jīvṇu mūā ॥2॥

नाम बिना ध्रिगु जीवणु मूआ ॥२॥

Without the Naam, both life and death are cursed. ||2||

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai sō jīvan muktā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै सो जीवन मुकता ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart is Jivan-mukta, liberated while yet alive.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu sabh hī jugtā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु सभ ही जुगता ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart knows all ways and means.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tini nau nidhi pāī ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिनि नउ निधि पाई ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart obtains the nine treasures.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥

nām binā bhrami āvai jāī ॥3॥

नाम बिना भ्रमि आवै जाई ॥३॥

Without the Naam, the mortal wanders, coming and going in reincarnation. ||3||

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai sō vēpravāhā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै सो वेपरवाहा ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart is carefree and independent.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਲਾਹਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu sad hī lāhā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु सद ही लाहा ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart always earns a profit.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਡ ਪਰਵਾਰਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu vaḍ parvārā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु वड परवारा ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart has a large family.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ॥੪॥

nām binā manmukh gāvārā ॥4॥

नाम बिना मनमुख गावारा ॥४॥

Without the Naam, the mortal is just an ignorant, self-willed manmukh. ||4||

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਆਸਨੁ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu nihchal āsnu ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु निहचल आसनु ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart has a permanent position.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਤਖਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਸਨੁ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu takhti nivāsnu ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु तखति निवासनु ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart is seated on the throne.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai sō sāchā sāhu ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै सो साचा साहु ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart is the true king.

ਨਾਮਹੀਣ ਨਾਹੀ ਪਤਿ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥੫॥

nāmhīṇ nāhī pati vēsāhu ॥5॥

नामहीण नाही पति वेसाहु ॥५॥

Without the Naam, no one has any honor or respect. ||5||

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai sō sabh mahi jātā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै सो सभ महि जाता ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart is famous everywhere.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai sō purkhu bidhātā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै सो पुरखु बिधाता ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart is the Embodiment of the Creator Lord.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai sō sabh tē ūchhā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै सो सभ ते ऊचा ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart is the highest of all.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਮੂਚਾ ॥੬॥

nām binā bhrami jōnī mūchhā ॥6॥

नाम बिना भ्रमि जोनी मूचा ॥६॥

Without the Naam, the mortal wanders in reincarnation. ||6||

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿ ਪਹਾਰਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu pragṭi pahārā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु प्रगटि पहारा ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart sees the Lord manifested in His Creation.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅੰਧਾਰਾ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai tisu miṭiā andhārā ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै तिसु मिटिआ अंधारा ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart - his darkness is dispelled.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸੋ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥

jisu nāmu ridai sō purkhu parvāṇu ॥

जिसु नामु रिदै सो पुरखु परवाणु ॥

One who keeps the Naam in his heart is approved and accepted.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ॥੭॥

nām binā phiri āvaṇ jāṇu ॥7॥

नाम बिना फिरि आवण जाणु ॥७॥

Without the Naam, the mortal continues coming and going in reincarnation. ||7||

ਤਿਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥

tini nāmu pāiā jisu bhaiō kripāl ॥

तिनि नामु पाइआ जिसु भइओ क्रिपाल ॥

He alone receives the Naam, who is blessed by the Lord's Mercy.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਹਿ ਲਖੇ ਗੁੋਪਾਲ ॥

sādhsaṅgti mahi lakhē gōpāl ॥

साधसंगति महि लखे गुोपाल ॥

In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the Lord of the World is understood.

ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣ ਰਹੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

āvaṇ jāṇ rahē sukhu pāiā ॥

आवण जाण रहे सुखु पाइआ ॥

Coming and going in reincarnation ends, and peace is found.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਤੈ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੮॥੧॥੪॥

kahu nānak tatai tatu milāiā ॥8॥1॥4॥

कहु नानक ततै ततु मिलाइआ ॥८॥१॥४॥

Says Nanak, my essence has merged in the Essence of the Lord. ||8||1||4||
