ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੀਆ ਪੈਨੈ ਖਾਇ ॥

गउड़ी महला ५ ॥

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:

ਜਿਸ ਕਾ ਦੀਆ ਪੈਨੈ ਖਾਇ ॥

jis kā dīā painai khāi ॥

जिस का दीआ पैनै खाइ ॥

They wear and eat the gifts from the Lord;

ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਆਲਸੁ ਕਿਉ ਬਨੈ ਮਾਇ ॥੧॥

tisu siu ālsu kiu banai māi ॥1॥

तिसु सिउ आलसु किउ बनै माइ ॥१॥

How can laziness help them, O mother? ||1||

ਖਸਮੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਆਨ ਕੰਮਿ ਲਾਗਹਿ ॥

khasmu bisāri ān kammi lāghi ॥

खसमु बिसारि आन कंमि लागहि ॥

Forgetting her Husband Lord, and attaching herself to other affairs,

ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲੇ ਰਤਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

kauḍī badlē ratnu tiāghi ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

कउडी बदले रतनु तिआगहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

The soul-bride throws away the precious jewel in exchange for a mere shell. ||1||Pause||

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਲਾਗਤ ਅਨ ਲੋਭਾ ॥

prabhū tiāgi lāgat an lōbhā ॥

प्रभू तिआगि लागत अन लोभा ॥

Forsaking God, she is attached to other desires.

ਦਾਸਿ ਸਲਾਮੁ ਕਰਤ ਕਤ ਸੋਭਾ ॥੨॥

dāsi salāmu karat kat sōbhā ॥2॥

दासि सलामु करत कत सोभा ॥२॥

But who has gained honor by saluting the slave? ||2||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਖਾਵਹਿ ਖਾਨ ਪਾਨ ॥

ammrit rasu khāvahi khān pān ॥

अंम्रित रसु खावहि खान पान ॥

They consume food and drink, delicious and sublime as ambrosial nectar.

ਜਿਨਿ ਦੀਏ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਨਹਿ ਸੁਆਨ ॥੩॥

jini dīē tishi na jānhi suān ॥3॥

जिनि दीए तिसहि न जानहि सुआन ॥३॥

But the dog does not know the One who has bestowed these. ||3||

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਲੂਣ ਹਰਾਮੀ ॥

kahu nānak ham lūṇ harāmī ॥

कहु नानक हम लूण हरामी ॥

Says Nanak, I have been unfaithful to my own nature.

ਬਖਸਿ ਲੇਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੪॥੭੬॥੧੪੫॥

bakhsi lēhu prabh antrajāmī ॥4॥76॥145॥

बखसि लेहु प्रभ अंतरजामी ॥४॥७६॥१४५॥

Please forgive me, O God, O Searcher of hearts. ||4||76||145||
