ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥

ਗਉੜੀ ਗੁਆਰੇਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

गउड़ी गुआरेरी महला ३ ॥

Gauree Gwaarayree, Third Mehl:

ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉ ਜਾਇ ॥

jinā gurmukhi dhiāiā tin pūchhhau jāi ॥

जिना गुरमुखि धिआइआ तिन पूछउ जाइ ॥

Go and ask the Gurmukhs, who meditate on the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥

gur sēvā tē manu patīāi ॥

गुर सेवा ते मनु पतीआइ ॥

Serving the Guru, the mind is satisfied.

ਸੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥

sē dhanvant hari nāmu kamāi ॥

से धनवंत हरि नामु कमाइ ॥

Those who earn the Lord's Name are wealthy.

ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥

pūrē gur tē sōjhī pāi ॥1॥

पूरे गुर ते सोझी पाइ ॥१॥

Through the Perfect Guru, understanding is obtained. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥

hari hari nāmu japhu mērē bhāī ॥

हरि हरि नामु जपहु मेरे भाई ॥

Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my Siblings of Destiny.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਘਾਲ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

gurmukhi sēvā hari ghāl thāi pāī ॥1॥ rahāu ॥

गुरमुखि सेवा हरि घाल थाइ पाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

The Gurmukhs serve the Lord, and so they are accepted. ||1||Pause||

ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

āpu pachhāṇai manu nirmalu hōi ॥

आपु पछाणै मनु निरमलु होइ ॥

Those who recognize the self - their minds become pure.

ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥

jīvan mukti hari pāvai sōi ॥

जीवन मुकति हरि पावै सोइ ॥

They become Jivan-mukta, liberated while yet alive, and they find the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਇ ॥

hari guṇ gāvai mati ūtam hōi ॥

हरि गुण गावै मति ऊतम होइ ॥

Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the intellect becomes pure and sublime,

ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥

sahjē sahji samāvai sōi ॥2॥

सहजे सहजि समावै सोइ ॥२॥

And they are easily and intuitively absorbed in the Lord. ||2||

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥

dūjai bhāi na sēviā jāi ॥

दूजै भाइ न सेविआ जाइ ॥

In the love of duality, no one can serve the Lord.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥

haumai māiā mahā bikhu khāi ॥

हउमै माइआ महा बिखु खाइ ॥

In egotism and Maya, they are eating toxic poison.

ਪੁਤਿ ਕੁਟੰਬਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਮ??ਹਿਆ ਮਾਇ ॥

puti kuṭmbi grihi mōhiā māi ॥

पुति कुटंबि ग्रिहि मोहिआ माइ ॥

They are emotionally attached to their children, family and home.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਧਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥

manmukhi andhā āvai jāi ॥3॥

मनमुखि अंधा आवै जाइ ॥३॥

The blind, self-willed manmukhs come and go in reincarnation. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਹੋਇ ॥

hari hari nāmu dēvai janu sōi ॥ andinu bhagti gur sabadī hōi ॥

हरि हरि नामु देवै जनु सोइ ॥ अनदिनु भगति गुर सबदी होइ ॥

Those, unto whom the Lord bestows His Name, worship Him night and day, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

gurmati virlā būjhai kōi ॥

गुरमति विरला बूझै कोइ ॥

How rare are those who understand the Guru's Teachings!

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੩੨॥

nānak nāmi samāvai sōi ॥4॥12॥32॥

नानक नामि समावै सोइ ॥४॥१२॥३२॥

O Nanak, they are absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||12||32||
