ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਇਹੁ ॥

ਸੋਰਠਿ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

सोरठि महला ५ ॥

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl:

ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਇਹੁ ॥

hirdai nāmu vasāihu ॥

हिरदै नामु वसाइहु ॥

Enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, within your heart;

ਘਰਿ ਬੈਠੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਧਿਆਇਹੁ ॥

ghari baiṭhē gurū dhiāihu ॥

घरि बैठे गुरू धिआइहु ॥

Sitting within your own home, meditate on the Guru.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਸਚੁ ਕਹਿਆ ॥

guri pūrai sachu kahiā ॥

गुरि पूरै सचु कहिआ ॥

The Perfect Guru has spoken the Truth;

ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਲਹਿਆ ॥੧॥

sō sukhu sāchā lahiā ॥1॥

सो सुखु साचा लहिआ ॥१॥

The True Peace is obtained only from the Lord. ||1||

ਅਪੁਨਾ ਹੋਇਓ ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ॥

apunā hōiō guru mihravānā ॥

अपुना होइओ गुरु मिहरवाना ॥

My Guru has become merciful.

ਅਨਦ ਸੂਖ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਮੰਗਲ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਆਏ ਕਰਿ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

anad sūkh kaliāṇ maṅgal siu ghari āē kari isnānā ॥ rahāu ॥

अनद सूख कलिआण मंगल सिउ घरि आए करि इसनाना ॥ रहाउ ॥

In bliss, peace, pleasure and joy, I have returned to my own home, after my purifying bath. ||Pause||

ਸਾਚੀ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

sāchī gur vaḍiāī ॥

साची गुर वडिआई ॥

True is the glorious greatness of the Guru;

ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥

tā kī kīmti kahṇu na jāī ॥

ता की कीमति कहणु न जाई ॥

His worth cannot be described.

ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹਾ ॥

siri sāhā pātisāhā ॥

सिरि साहा पातिसाहा ॥

He is the Supreme Overlord of kings.

ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟਤ ਮਨਿ ਓਮਾਹਾ ॥੨॥

gur bhēṭat mani ōmāhā ॥2॥

गुर भेटत मनि ओमाहा ॥२॥

Meeting with the Guru, the mind is enraptured. ||2||

ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਛਤ ਲਾਥੇ ॥

sagal parāchhat lāthē ॥

सगल पराछत लाथे ॥

All sins are washed away,

ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥

mili sādhsaṅgti kai sāthē ॥

मिलि साधसंगति कै साथे ॥

Meeting with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥

guṇ nidhān hari nāmā ॥

गुण निधान हरि नामा ॥

The Lord's Name is the treasure of excellence;

ਜਪਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੩॥

japi pūran hōē kāmā ॥3॥

जपि पूरन होए कामा ॥३॥

Chanting it, one's affairs are perfectly resolved. ||3||

ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥

guri kīnō mukti duārā ॥

गुरि कीनो मुकति दुआरा ॥

The Guru has opened the door of liberation,

ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਰੈ ਜੈਕਾਰਾ ॥

sabh srisṭi karai jaikārā ॥

सभ स्रिसटि करै जैकारा ॥

And the entire world applauds Him with cheers of victory.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਾਥੇ ॥

nānak prabhu mērai sāthē ॥

नानक प्रभु मेरै साथे ॥

O Nanak, God is always with me;

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਭੈ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੨॥

janam maraṇ bhai lāthē ॥4॥2॥52॥

जनम मरण भै लाथे ॥४॥२॥५२॥

My fears of birth and death are gone. ||4||2||52||
